Seems mostly fair.
Seems like a good insurance for a family of pets. Cost is not stellar, but acceptable. 1st time getting my pets insured, hope it works out. Utilized discount through my employer. Not excited about the $3 month fee to pay monthly, seems like a grab, but what can you do. Fingers crossed.

My cat was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism
My cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism recently. This has required many tests & consultations with other veterinarians. Having a policy with Pumpkin saved me a LOT of worry & anxiety, without this policy, I don’t know how I would’ve afforded her care. I submitted my veterinary bills to them & within three days, I received payment from them. They do pay ninety percent of what they cover & they cover a lot! I definitely recommend Pumpkin’s pet insurance. It saved me a lot of worry!

I adopted an 8 year old lab named Buddy…
I adopted an 8 year old lab named Buddy that lived with a cone on for years, and wasn’t to the vet for a long time. Blue Chip the organization I adopted from sent me an email saying to apply for Metlife pet insurance. I applied and got the insurance. It was absolutely God sent. My husband and i are retirees on a fixed budget. Metlife really cares about pets . I got the insurance on 01/01/2026 and 9 days later when i took Buddy to the vet , Metlife coverd it minus my deductible. Thank u Metlife for covering my 8 year old rescue for a very responsible price.

Way to expensive if you have a healthy pet
I’ve had Trupanion for several years and initially felt good about the coverage, but the way they price policies has become increasingly frustrating. Their model evaluates your premium based on other pets in your area of the same breed, age, and gender — essentially a “people paying into the same pot” philosophy. While I understand how risk pools work, the reality is that my premiums have risen dramatically even though my own dog’s claims and health history haven’t changed. In just the past few years, my rate has increased 16%, and most recently another 19.5%. The only explanation provided is that costs are rising due to claims from similar dogs in my geographic area. In other words, responsible pet owners can end up subsidizing the misfortune of others nearby, with very little transparency or control. There hasn’t been a clear breakdown showing why these increases are necessary or how they’re calculated beyond general statements about regional trends. I chose this insurer expecting stability and predictability over time, especially given the already higher monthly premium compared to competitors. Instead, the year-over-year increases have made the policy feel less sustainable and harder to justify, particularly when they’re not tied to my pet’s actual usage. Coverage itself may be solid, but prospective customers should go in understanding that premiums can rise significantly based on factors outside your control, including the claims history of other pets in your area. If you’re looking for long-term cost stability or transparency in pricing, it’s worth asking detailed questions and comparing options before committing.
