Completely awful company

Completely awful company. I was a customer for less than a year, had my two german shepherds insured, been paid $0 in claims (submitted two that were denied) and was sent a letter than my rates were increasing by 40% without any logical explanation. When I emailed customer service I got a note back that said "We are sorry you are unhappy!" To move forward with cancellation we need account info. No justification or apologies for the increase, just a generic email. Terrible and would never recommend them to anyone.

Every claim has been next day every issue I’ve had has been resolved the same day so I definitely recommend this Insurance. It’s reasonable and the customer care is great as well.

$9,500 Surgery - Freshly One Year Old Puppy

$9,500. My FRESHLY ONE YEAR OLD Yoshi, developed a pretty aggressive limp early on in his growing phase. We hoped and hoped he'd grow out of it, but after many many vet visits, x-rays, PT, we found out through a CT scan that he'd developed elbow displasia, and required surgery to mostly-fix. After my per-condition deductible had been met, which only took one visit and an x-ray (about $800 out of pocket.) Trupanion stepped in and started covering up to 90% of the bills. The CT alone was $3500 and the surgery ended up being around $6000, we paid all the things we were expected to, exam fees, 10%, etc., and I cannot explain just how thankful I am that after much research, I picked this company. Because of Trupanion, my ONE YEAR OLD puppy is freshly out of surgery and recovering well, we're on day five of recovery and he seems to be doing well. Just remember the per-condition deductible feels like it sucks sometimes, BUT IT DOES NOT, when you have a dog like ours, we have to bring him in for different things that sometimes don't stick to one per-condition deductible. So sometimes it feels like you're just paying for everything, but its the cost of being covered, and its worth it. Take some peace in knowing that once you hit that deductible, you will be taken care of. NO HASSLE to cover, NO HASSLE to pay, pick this company for peace of mind. You will not regret it, I promise you. Worth every. Single. Penny. Don't think "it wont happen to me" it might.

Was told by Blue Pearl Trupanion would pay $248 of the $1210 bill. Got back to get my dog and Trupanion only paid $83!!! We have been paying into them for 4.5 years with NO CLAIMS. Then I got an email at the emergency vet hospital from Trupanion increasing my premiums effective 5/27/26!!!! You only paid $83 dollars. We will be canceling our plan. Trupanion is NOT WHO THEY ADVERTISE!!!!

Transferring a dog between countries

We were transferring ownership of a nine-year-old dog from our daughter in the United States to us in Canada. The dog had been insured with Trupanion for years, but getting new insurance would have been very expensive. The Trupanion customer service team smoothly moved insurance from our daughter to us, at the rates the dog had been insured under. This was a move between owners and between countries, and the entire process took maybe 45 minutes and the rates were very good!

Smooth Claims Every Time

The customer support, easy online portal and claims management process have all been easy and great. Never had any issue getting things paid for. ASPCA was also wonderful when one of my pets died from cancer. I do feel like I have other friends who pay less for more coverage, so from a price standpoint, I'm not sure competitive ASPCA is. HOWEVER, I continue to insure through ASPCA regardless because I've such an easy and great experience. I have not worked with other companies, so maybe it's a pay for what you get scenario where the rates I pay ensure I have a better experience.
