If Only All Insurance Worked This Well
We’ve insured our Bernedoodle with MetLife Pet Insurance for several years now, and they continue to impress us every single time. The claims submission process is incredibly seamless, responses are fast, and they do an excellent job keeping you updated throughout the entire process. Honestly, I’ve commented more than once that I wish the claims process for my personal healthcare insurance worked even half as smoothly as it does for our dog. MetLife is truly remarkable in how efficiently and consistently they handle claims. It’s rare to find this level of reliability and communication, and it gives us real peace of mind knowing our pup is covered.

Buyers Beware
We purchased our puppy from Bark Street Puppies on Saturday 11/22/25 at 3:00PM and were pleased to hear that a policy with Trupanion was included with the transaction. We were advised that a health exam needed to occur within 24 hours. A full health exam was performed on Monday 11/24/25 at 2:00PK at Pets R Family Veterinary Hospital but due to processing issues the claim was not able to be directly filed by the Hospital forcing us to pay for the service and await for a reimbursement. Our claims were finally processed on 12/31/25, five (5) weeks after submission. The claims were denied because we “failed” to have the examination occur within the 24 hour period. When we challenged this decision claiming that no veterinarian office is open on a Sunday so the 24 hour requirement was met with the visit on Monday. Trupanion responded by saying 24 hours means 24 hours whether or not a weekend or holiday falls within their stated timeframe. How absurd! Throughout the world all businesses including governmental agencies take into account non business days when calculating timeframes. With this in mind we believe that we should be compensated based on the fact that only emergency services are available on Sundays and or holidays. Trupanion’s decision is contrary to normal business practices. Buyer Beware as this company has shown that they will use any excuse to avoid normal payments through the use of deceptive practices.

Claims reviewed quickly and accurately
Pumpkin always reviews and adjudicates claims really quickly. Claims adjudication is always fair and I have never had to appeal a decision in 4 years with policies on multiple pets. I wish pumpkin could handle MY health insurance too, it’s not fair my dogs insurer is so great and mine sucks.

I applied the 23rd
I applied the 23rd, yall still haven’t gotten back to me on my pets approval so i won’t even have coverage until two weeks from whenever yall get back with me, as well as the fact i called on December tenth and my rate was $17 and then when i decided to get it the 23rd it was $28 a month and yall said you would investigate why and leave me a voicemail but yall never called me back and it’s been over a week and I’ve heard nothing. Also just yall aren’t gonna cover much and for r to i pets you can’t find any insurnace that assist with any kind of preexisting conditions like you can either a dog or cat

It was quick and easy to file the claim and upload the necessary documents in a few minutes on the app. Response and explanation e-mail was received within 2 days. Reimbursement was received and in my bank account in 7 days, which was including Christmas day. Overall great experience!
