Pets Best is awesome!
I had to submit a claim for my dog that suffered a torn cruciate ligament. Filing the claim with Pets Best couldn't have been easier and they processed my claim so promptly. When I called with questions the customer service reps were knowledgeable and very nice. I would recommend Pets Best Insurance to anyone who loves their pets!

Don't waste your money
Like any insurance company, they will try to deny your claim on any grounds possible. You can appeal their denial, but that is also a waste of time. You can NEVER talk to anyone in the appeals department and all communication with the appeals department is by email, which is ineffective. The people who answer your calls and sign you up with a policy, are great sales representatives. They sound like they genuinely care about your pet and understand completely how you are feeling but it's all a ploy. If you are convinced you need a pet policy, sign your pet up as a puppy or kitten so that you have all the medical history. Our dog was 4 years old and the appeals department was convinced there was missing records, which there was not and our appeal was denied!

I can't imagine that there is a better pet insurance company out there
My review of Healthy Paws is a 5*, especially for service and value. I'll start with our back story and then describe how great it has been to deal with them. I will try to touch on some of the points that made me apprehensive prior to signing up in order to ease your nerves. We contemplated health insurance for our first and only pet, but didn't decide to sign up until just before our pup's first birthday. We began by doing some research on some of the most prominent insurance companies that our vet and local pet store promoted. After reading about the companies via reviews (just like this one) and comparing, we decided that we would choose Healthy Paws, and we are SO HAPPY we did! It is so easy and painless to deal with Healthy Paws! We chose the 90% plan. So, we pay the vet bills up front and submit an image of the paid receipt into the mobile app or website. Then, Healthy Paws reimburses us 90% of all qualifying charges after the deductible has been covered. It seems like everything is covered except for preventative care, like: booster shots and annual visits. Things that we have had covered were: x-rays, a knee surgery, medications and physical/rehab therapy. Once we have submitted a claim (a process that takes less than 2 minutes), we receive email notifications until we eventually receive our reimbursement check in the mail (normally within 2-3 weeks). It is great! The value of insurance far exceeds its cost. The cost for our pup will be different from yours, because of the age of our pup and her breed I suppose. The cost of vet care will probably be different too. That said, the money we have saved from only our pup's knee surgery is about equal to what we saved by having surgery. It is so worth it to have the peace of mind that whatever happens, Healthy Paws will have our backs! In addition, Healthy Paws cares about us. Since her surgery about a month ago, multiple people have reached out to us to see how our pup is doing. We even got a get-well card in the mail! My only regret: waiting almost a year to sign-up with Healthy Paws. They have been fantastic in terms of value & service, and this is consistent across every single interaction we have had.

Best decision ever made.
Service is Great and the App makes entering claims so easy. I've never had a problem with processing claims. Customer Service has always been friendly and helpful. It's all you can ask for. I only wish the claims would process quicker but other then that. I couldn't ask for better service and the peace of mind it gives me to have my pet insured with a great company makes it that much easier to just take my Lulu to the Vet when she needs to. I recommend getting the whole package as I have for my dog.

EVERY person I have ever talked to has been more than wonderful, I would say spectacularly supportive!!!
I would definitely recommend Nationwide to anyone who wants to get insurance for their pet. What amazing customer service!!! I don't know how they do it. I guess they all LOVE animals as much as I do. My little rescue cat developed stomatitis, a terribly painful condition. My vet tried to treat it for 4 months with steroids and antibiotics, but that didn't work. So he removed all of her teeth, poor little thing. I had a bill that I couldn't have paid for if I didn't have Nationwide insurance. They paid without any questions asked. I am so very grateful!!!! I've had many animals in my 67 years, and I've never had pet insurance. But I'm so glad I discovered Nationwide (recommended by my vet tech). Can't imagine what I would do without them! If only MY own medical insurance was a fraction as good. Love you Nationwide!!!!

Claim processing time take way too long in my opinion.
At times when quite a lot of money has to be paid to get help for a sick dog can add up to quite a bit, and then not getting claims processed in a shorter period of time (mostly almost a month, if not a month), takes a toll on other spending. Charges for the insurance comes always promptly, but not the payments for the claims. Not good :/ Yet, I do appreciate communication from the insurance company to hear how my pet is doing after an illness, and for that I give 10 points :)
