Prompt easy service, really helpful when our poor dog was ill.

We weren't sure pet insurance was a good idea, but we went ahead, "just in case". Well, unfortunately our poor Border Collie mix Diggity developed a bad stomach bug, and we thought we were going to lose him! He was in and out of the vet, and the bills . . . well, you know. We didn't have time to worry about the costs, we just wanted our boy healthy. Insurance? Well, we would see. To our delight, Healthy Paws had an easy-to-use web site, the vet knew all about them and said good things. Then, voila, a check appeared, and then another without any fuss! Then, another minor disaster, our doggie needed dental surgery after breaking off a cainine tooth. Another strasopheric bill, another insurance claim. Surly they would push back on such an quick second medical expense. But, again, to our delight, no fuss at all, just another paid claim. Thank you Healthy Paws, and Diggity says thanks too.

Pre-existing issue

I am very happy with my coverage for my dog, especially well care items, such as flea and tick treatments. I only have one complaint, and it began when I signed Josie up over the phone. The agent asked if Josie had ever been on any medications, and I said, "Only a one-time pain pill prescription for a strained back a couple of years ago." (She twisted wrong while jumping after a frisbee, and we've never had her chase them again....she now stays grounded with a ball.) The policy for Josie showed up with a "pre-existing issue"...."intervertebral disc disease"!! Wow!! I submitted the review request form back in '16, explaining that she has never had a problem before or after this, along with vet records, but it was rejected. Our current vet said we'd have to do a whole exam, x-rays, etc. to check her out. I guess this means if she ever has back problems she won't be covered. That's pretty frustrating, but we've kept the policy, because they do cover most everything else.....and we keep our fingers crossed she won't have this "disease" again. I would, and have recommended National to others. I think it's one of the best plans out there, if not the best.

Incredible service!

I’ve had nationwide pet insurance since my dog was a puppy and I am so grateful! Claims have been so simple and easy for me. My dog was recently diagnosed with knee issues and nationwide stepped in to help with the claim. If they hadn’t been there, we wouldn’t have been able to go through with the surgery. We are so appreciative!

Love Nationwide Pet Insurance

I am very lucky. My veterinary office sends my claims in for me so the process is very easy. The only thing that I would warn new pet owners taking out the insurance is to make sure you get it enough in advance of getting your pet. What Nationwide considers 2 days and what you do may be 2 different things. I thought the 2 day period was up when I got our pup but it wasn’t. She had a UTI & it was considered a “pre-existing condition”. Fortunately she did NOT have anymore and I petitioned for it to be reviewed & removed as a pre-existing condition. Other than that, claims have been very easy. If I got another dog I would get Nationwide Pet Insurance for it too.

Healthy Paws is a great pet insurance!

We are extremely grateful for Healthy Paws! Our 10 month old puppy was suspected to have a bleeding disorder and required countless tests and trips to see specialists. She ultimately needed surgery at a specialty hospital. Healthy Paws covered 90% of all of the bills making it possible for our puppy to receive the the best care from the best doctors. The customer service at Healthy Paws was also very helpful. There were always knowledgable people available to help answer our questions and concerns. Thankfully, our puppy is doing great now! We are very appreciative of all that Healthy Paws has done for us and would recommend them to any pet parent.
