April is doing very well, thank you for your e-mail. She has completed her initial shots, had an excellent physical, bloodwork, and is thriving in our home. April and my wife and I are very happy with the assistance we have received from Nationwide Insurance.

Easy but takes some time

It's a pretty easy process. Love that I can now file online through the app but it does take some time and the follow up isn't quite there yet but it has gotten better. I'm happy.

Great customer service and easy to file claim

I knew I needed pet insurance once I got a French bulldog just knowing the breed Once I decided I was getting a French bulldog I knew I would need pet insurance knowing the breed. When asking around to those who had pet insurance majority ruled with Healthy Paws. When my puppy had a freak accident at three months old and broke his leg I was so thankful to have pet insurance. Filing each claim was easy and checking the status was clear through email and even easier when you have the app. The customer service is awesome and responsive and even checked in to see how everything was going with recovery. They were very clear in all claims what they covered and did not based on my plan and provided breakdown of everything. You really never know what could happen and I’m thankful to have healthy paws!

Rocky experience at the start but turned out to be a good overall experience.

I found my experience rocky from the start. I think your initial preexisting condition evaluation and decision was unfair and it required a lot of time and effort on my part to argue and ultimately reverse your decision. Additionally, some of my initial claims were mixed up upon submission... I submitted multiple claims simultaneously, had receipts for them, you processed some, and “lost” the others. That also took a lot of time and effort for me to resolve. However I will say that once she was tragically and unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer you’ve been fantastic. The claims have been processed and reimbursed speedily. And I love the chase pay option to receive my reimbursements in a timely fashion.

A role model for how insurance should work

My 9 year old yellow lab has had two unexpected tooth surgeries in the last 6 months. Trupanion paid the majority of both claims without argument, issues or making me jump through extra hoops. Filing a claim was easy, once you can find the form on their website. I got Trupanion a couple of years ago when’s friend raved about them, and now that my dog has unexpectedly needed coverage for two surgeries in a year, I’m so glad I did. This is the way insurance should work!!

Recent experience

my claim was denied, because the services and/or prescription meds were not covered. I have since given my vet a print out of the meds that are covered for my dog Buster. They were happy to keep the info in his file and will refer to this list the next times he needs meds. The information you provide and the willingness of Buster's doctor to work within the parameters of the coverage makes it easier and less stressful for me to give my dog the care he needs
