Love the coverage, but sometimes I have to make a lot of phone calls to them

MetLife Pet Insurance has saved us a bunch of money. Somehow we ended up with dogs that need monthly prescriptions or monthly prescription dog food. So it's very nice to have 80% come back to us after our deductible. Sometimes it's frustrating with the claims because they ask for the SOAP notes every now and again even though they had previously covered the same thing. Sometimes when looking at claims they miss some of the documentation and that part of the claim isn't covered so I have to call in and ask them to take another look. Also I wish that there would be a claim number assigned for each different claim that is submitted. I will submit them as individual claims and then somehow the documentation and such gets put all together under one claim number. I have 3 dogs on one policy and sometimes things have not been covered because they assumed it was for a different dog than what the claim is for. So more phone calls from me to straighten it out. Also I wish when I had an invoice that shows treatment for 2 dogs I could select both dogs for the claim so there is less confusion. The turnaround time is pretty great and I love that the money is automatically deposited in my account.

No Pre Certification

Our Jaxon needed a total hip Replacement. $20,000. Healthy Paws paid for all the tests leading up to the hospitalization and surgery. We have had Healthy Paws for our 2 dogs. For 5 years we paid premiums with No claims. My problem with the company was they would not commit to covering the Surgery/Hospitalization itself. This is a bad practice. We literally had to gamble on the fact that HP would cover it. HP made a very emotional time more Stressful. In the End they paid the claim and our Jaxon is recovering, thankfully.

Very reputable company

Very reputable company! I got an email 2 weeks after mailing a claim saying they accepted it and were going to pay 80% and received the check a week later.

MetLife is a great insurance. It’s great that I can submit my forms…

It’s great that I can submit my forms by an app and get reimbursed in a timely manner. Charlie got sick, scared me so much. I knew I could take him to the emergency vet because I had insurance that would help pay for it. Peace of mind for sure!

Easy to Sign Up

It was a short phone call for me to sign up my pet with Nationwide Pet Insurance. The coverage is comprehensive and affordable.

Paid out, just takes a while.

Paid out without issue, but time between submission and payment is much larger than Nationwide
