Highly recommend Healthy Paws

I’m so grateful we have healthy paws insurance. Last year our dog needed TPLO surgery and this year a tumor removed. Having pet insurance gives me peace of mind that I don’t have to worry about money and can just focus on my pet. I have had no issues submitting paperwork and the processing time is a few days. Highly recommend healthy paws!

CRIMINAL & PREDATORY COMPANY

I've had Healthy Paws on two of my dogs since 2014, they're now both over 10 yrs old. The rate hikes are INSANE, we just went from $350/month to almost $1000/month, with LESS coverage. This company is CRIMINAL. I've had FIGO pet insurance for my third dog and she is OLDER than the two that are with Healthy Paws- we pay less than $200/month for her for the EXACT SAME COVERAGE ($250 yearly deductible, no annual/lifetime limit, 90% coverage) and she's 14 yrs old! What the hell is going on? They really get you because now that my dogs are over 10 and have pre-existing conditions, we can't get coverage elsewhere without sacrificing coverage on their pre-existing conditions, so it's either stay with Healthy Paws and pay outrageous premiums or drop the coverage completely. We'll be dropping. Outrageous and criminal. I'm just sick. If you have a young animal and are considering Healthy Paws, know that the rates they start you at are extremely deceiving and if you plan to keep your policy on your pet for it's lifetime, BE VERY PREPARED BECAUSE YOUR RATES WILL SKYROCKET. My advice- STAY AWAY!

I'm very disappointed with Healthy Paws…

I'm very disappointed with Healthy Paws so far. I'm trying to get a claim processed and they keep sending me erroneous emails saying I'm not covered. That is because they didn't update my files despite having sent them my pet's medical records. I'm already going through so much stress with my pet having a serious health issue and to receive all of these emails saying they can't process my claim really adds to my stress in a nonproductive way. I'm trying to see if I can get out of this policy and find another insurer.

Guinea pig coverage is inadequate!

Guinea pig coverage is inadequate! It used to be 90% coverage with a $10k cap on medical when I first started taking it out in 2001. I was able to get the ultrasounds & bloodwork & xrays & surgeries & biopsies & dental work needed to extend the life of my piggies as they succumbed to infections and cysts and other issues. With the modular plan aurorenewals it bounced around between 70-80% then this year dropped to 50% with a $3k cap on medical. This is very upsetting because it means I can’t afford the needed vet care for older piggies with life-threatening issues. I was glad it’s gone up to 80% with the 4 new policies I’m taking out now, but the $3k cap is way too low! At least change the ratio to $5k cap on medical and $1k cap on accidents. Guinea pigs don’t have accidents (rare) - they have illnesses! And on average with 70% of female piggies getting ovarian cysts (#1 medical problem) - why doesn’t Nationwide cover preventative flank spays at 6-8 months old? Instead why do we have to wait until the piggy is diagnosed at 3-4 years old and at much greater risk for surgery & recovery complications? Nationwide coverage is so meager I will happily switch if there is ever another insurance company offering exotic policies that actually reflects the high cost of vet procedures for guinea pigs. And please have your agents confirm the pet name spellings when enrolling new pets - twice now they’ve misspelled the pet name on the policy.
