Easy and Convenient
They handled all of the paperwork, gave me an estimated out of pocket cost, and finalized the paperwork in the end. I focused on my pet.

Their Name Fits
Pets Best is everything they claim. They were there for me when I lost my sweet Max, provided funds for taking care of him. And they are doing it again for my new kids, Callie & Carter. Easy to submit claim, quick to respond, cover exactly what they claimed. Highly recommend. No one should not have pet insurance. It's so much easier than human insurance. Easy to understand & back it up with what they promise. It is something we never want to use but there if you need too.
Horrible company - total scam
I have had 2 claims - for 2 different dogs - both have been denied. What is the point in having insurance when they don't cover anything. For ridiculous reasons. TOTAL SCAM

Pets Best - Excellent service during worst case ER visit.
We had a very sudden issue with our cat Sylvia who we took to the ER. Her condition worsened and the hospital bills were climbing but I knew we had Pets Best insurance to help with some of those costs. Insurance companies typically get a bad rep, usually for justified reasons, so we were worried the claim would be denied for some absurd reason. Unfortunately , Sylvia's condition worsened and we made the tough call to euthanize her. The costs were high and it would have put us in a tight spot without insurance. After submitting my claim and not receiving a response for some time, Pets Best customer service did something I haven't seen from any other company. They sent an email apologizing for the delay and that they were working on the claim. After another week or so, I received a detailed breakdown of each cost, how much was or was not covered, and explanations for anything not covered and where to reference my policy for why those costs were not covered. There was an additional email expressing their sympathy and stating Sylvia's insurance plan was automatically discontinued, which was very much another burden removed. Shortly after I received the deposit in my account. I couldn't be more pleased with the Pets Best experience, communication, and level of detail. They made a very difficult time much more manageable and that speaks volumes to the service they provide.
Poor response time, claim rejected even though similar claim was approved before.
After a length wait and talk on the phone to discuss why our second claim was rejected, they told us our original claim should never have been approved in the first place because it should not have been deemed 'an accident'. I had originally e-mailed them to clarify (no response after three days) and had to call them and spend close to hour on the phone to get this response! Awful experience.

Just Get It!
I've had Healthy Paws since 6/6/2020, since my dog was a puppy with no medical issues. I have never had any issues with them. They cover my dog's $90 medication, roughly every 45 days. They've paid for $200 worth of medication. They have covered his ER visit of ~$500. They covered dental bills three times — the first was a slab fracture, the second was a broken tooth. The third time was this year, after he was found to have a cyst during his last dental in Nov 2025. He had to go to the dentist to have this fixed — $3700. They covered it, leaving my out of pocket cost to $371. I work at a vet and I recommend Healthy Paws to clients on the daily. I recently got a new puppy (now a year old) and enrolled him in insurance the day I brought him home. They have covered his car sickness medication. The point is, pet insurance IS worth it. Pay attention to the poor reviews — most of the time, the pet was denied because it was a pre-existing condition. Many people dont think of that when they enroll. Something as minor as vomiting, diarrhea, a little itchiness...all of that can (and likely will) be listed as a pre-existing condition. Get pet insurance before your pet has any issues! And yes, it can be costly. Premiums rise every year. This is a business, after all. Premiums rise due to rising vet costs. It all depends on what you can afford. I can afford a monthly $150 for two dogs, but I can't afford to drop 4-5k on an ER visit or illness without being paid back (I recommend opeing a CareCredit and an Affirm credit card, since you do have to pay out of pocket first and then reimbursed). All in all...10/10. I will never have another dog/cat without health insurance. Healthy Paws is where it's at. I'd never go elsewhere.

Healthy Paws - a company you can count on year after year
Healthy Paws has been wonderful when dealing with my older dogs' medical issues last year. Vestibular disease with complications, 5 days in ICU. Most everything was covered without issue. It has been so easy to submit a claim from the larger surgeries to his rehab recently. I can concentrate on my dog's health knowing that my claim is handled efficiently & in a timely manor. My dog Wally is now 14 - we have been with Healthy Paws for 13 years. No complaints-only praise!!

Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. They will not pay. Spot was happy to take my money, but when I filed my first legitimate claim, they denied it based on a flimsy "pre-existing condition" excuse. Even after I provided a signed letter from my vet proving the condition was new and not pre-existing, they refused to help. Their business model seems to be collecting premiums and denying claims. Do not trust them with your pet's health.
