Poor communication and handling of insurance claims. The following message was sent 85 days after the initial claim was filed, and 5 days prior to expiration of initial claim (during a Thanksgiving week): Thank you for sending us your pet insurance Claim. To complete your Claim, we need your help by providing us with the following documentation: All of [pet's] medical records since joining your family (view an example medical record here). Your veterinary hospital will provide these documents to you and many are happy to send them on your behalf. A clear invoice for the claim you are submitting (view an example invoice here). The one we received was partially obscured. So that we may continue our review of the Claim, please provide us with the requested information. If we have your veterinary clinic’s information, we will send a request on your behalf. However, a follow up with your veterinary clinic on your part may be necessary to make sure that we are provided with the requested information. If [pet] was seen at any other clinics, please provide the name and contact details of these clinics and we are happy to request additional medical records on your behalf.

I bought my plan and two days later had a wellness visit for my pup. Through the website I uploaded my claim, very easy to do and within five days I was already reimbursed. Customer service communicated through email about my claim and was very helpful. This has been an easy hastle free process!!

Claim processing
Submitted a claim January 1, 2023 and it was reviewed and finalized within 12 hours for 90% of the invoice. I’ve had coverage on my dog for 11 years and love Trupanion. I would not have been able to afford some of the vet care and would have had to rehome or euthanize my dog. Trupanion has been a blessing and when I total up 11 years of premiums it is still less than what has been reimbursed. I’m happy to pay a little each month rather than thousands per treatment/injury.

Special care for my beloved cat
I selected Trupanion based on a recommendation from his Vet. I am very pleased with how they care about my beloved cat Namath. Trupanion eases my emotions by paying the animal hospital directly, thus allowing me to put all my attention on my pet. Taking a cherished companion to the animal hospital is emotional enough let alone needing to submit claims to pet insurance companies. Trupanion works directly with Vets and animal hospitals easing that burden. Trupanion also pays 90% of the claim, which is phenomenal. Thank you Trupanion for giving me piece of mind.
