My dog was insured for 9 years
My dog was insured for 9 years. We never filed a claim. The past two years the policy doubled. $45 to $90 causing me to changed the deductible to get it to $70. This year it doubled again to $158. I cancelled it. Crazy. Worse than BlueCross for humans

Thankful for Healthy Paws.
I purchased a Healthy Paws Pet plan prior to bringing my 8 week old Saint Bernard/Italian Mastiff Mix home. I'm thankful I did. At two years old, my dog ruptured her right ccl... During the exam we learned the left ccl was torn and needed surgical repair as well. Due to her size, the Surgeon did not recommend a bilateral TPLO surgery. Which means, we have to pay $10,000.00 per leg. There is no bilateral discount... Initially, I attempted to reach a Healthy Paws representative, in my mind, I thought I would be assigned a case worker to assure me the surgeries were covered. I called multiple times and spoke with a representative who would read my policy to me. After multiple calls I learned Healthy Paws does not give preapproval. In my mind I was waiting for the green light from a representative because I knew if I insurance didn't help with the costs; I would be forced to make a different decision. I realize my preconceived notion added to my stress at the time. I kept the faith and scheduled the first surgery. In June we started with the right TPLO and early September we had the left TPLO. Healthy Paws covered 80% of both surgeries. The app was extremely easy to use, simply upload the documents from the Vet and I would receive compensation shortly after. Although we are still in the early stages of recovery, I am relieved to have Healthy Paws at my side.

10+ year customer, will always have them
i've had healthy paws pet insurance..... for the last 10+ years. they are definitely a premium insurer - but you get what you pay for. physical therapy. cancer treatments. $20,000 surgeries. i send them the invoice, they deposit my reimbursement a couple days later. not even batting an eye. i always recommend them.

Unrealistic Annual Renewal Rates
The customer service is fine, I'm giving this low rating due to the ridiculousness of their pricing algorithms. My pet's policy is set to renew in October and the monthly premium increased 68%! Yes, you read that right, 68%! I don't even know how that's legal? But I'm stuck with the policy since my dog has allergies (a pre-existing condition), otherwise Id go elsewhere. Shame on you, Embrace.

Use a different insurer
Spot placed so many barriers to my first claim, I canceled in frustration: 1) calls went to an off-shore answering service that was useless; 2) the claim was commingled with an invoice among my pet’s medical history and that had to be removed by an agent of the company; and 3) the company continued to ask for medical records that were far more clinical than required. Not recommended unless you are willing to put up with confusion and processing delays.
