Will raise your policy to ridiculous amounts!!!
I have 2 French Bulldogs that have been with trupanion for years and we cancelled it because they raised our policy 350$ for one dog and 150$ for another. We were already paying 400 dollars for both policies. This was just not ok. Their customer service was also not the best if you had further questions rarely they would pass you to a manager.When we first got our policy for our youngest they only let us pick 90% coverage because our states laws had changed and they no longer had 100% I called after a year they informed me that now they 100% but that I was not able to raise my policy only lower it... If i could give 0 stars i would. They definitely are not Americas #1 Pet insurance.

Good customer service but extremely long wait on call…
Once I got through to the customer service representative, she was knowledgeable and courteous and was able to answer all my questions. The problem was getting through. First time I called, I was on hold over an hour. Then I requested automatic call back. That took another couple hours for them to return my call. Of course when they called, I missed it. I had to repeat the cycle the next day.

Never purchased insurance for my dogs
Never purchased insurance for my dogs. The initial process was easy and the representative was very helpful. Have received payment for my 3rd claim. The claim process is also very straightforward. Haven’t received any updates on the first two claims. Will reach out in a week to see what is happening with the claims. I’m happy I purchased this insurance for Leo.

Wonderful company. No questions asked for a claim
Our dogs has had 4 major surgeries and 4 minor surgeries and Healthy Paws has paid everything with no questions. Ziva’s total cost of surgeries is around $70,000 and we have only paid 20%. I will never use another company. Once we place the claim it is only about a week later that we have the check. Wonderful company! The key is to get the dog on the insurance at a young age. When we started her as a puppy it was only $35 a month. As she aged the insurance has gone up. The price does not go up based on the number of claims.

During an appeal, the claims team managed to find new exclusions. Best described as "customer no service." If you have to call be prepared to wait, unless you're calling the sales line - you'll get someone on the first ring.
