Competive price on insurance premiums. Good customer service. Service rep answered my questions accurately and with detail. Took time to explain. This is first time purchasing pet insurance and was not sure how it worked and what was covered.

All benign growths exclude all future cancer treatments
My dog had a small benign growth on his gums. I asked my veterinarian twice if it should be tested, but she stated it was extremely common and did not look suspicious in any way, and elected to remove it during routine dental cleaning. This insurance policy will now not cover any form of cancer in any way because my veterinarian did not biopsy the gum growth. They intentionally elect to not review your pet's data until you submit a claim, so you do not have clear understanding of what is not covered until it is too late and you have already paid an outrageous monthly premium for years. Very unfortunate experience.

Dishonest company
I have found Trupanion to be a very dishonest company. When I originally bought the policy I was lead to believe my premium would never go up. It has gone up by about 500% since then. They also lump things into pre existing conditions to avoid paying claims. Even after receiving notes from my vet stating otherwise. They also no longer pay my vet directly so I have to lay out the cost and wait for reimbursement. They did cover an emergency surgery a year ago hence the 2 stars. My dog is a senior dog now so switching insurance companies is not an option. Would not recommend. Buyers beware!
