A Pawful Experience

This company would rather lose a member than recognize that it has internal process issues. They are unclear in their communications and are only focused on their bottom line. They took around $400 in premiums and provided nothing in return. Everything my dog has ever experienced is a preexisting condition. I only found this out after 3 months of trying to get my claim reviewed. This place is a scam as evidenced by its poor reviews. I asked for a full refund following their terrible internal processes and insane list of what they wouldn't cover (e.g., allergies, tooth care, eye care, etc.) because she has experienced them at some point in the past. My dog has ZERO health issues but the little things she has grappled with render her without coverage. Run, don't walk, to Spot Pet Insurance. They will, undoubtedly, try to provide a pithy response about fairness when they've been anything but. They are just words. Their lack of action speaks volumes. I hope the $400 was worth it, HP.

My sweet German Shepherd

My sweet German Shepherd, my sweet baby boy of 8 y.o., was found to have Cardiac hemangiosarcoma- a large mass in his right atrium that was bleeding. They drained the blood from his heart and needed to stay the night in the ICU. He stabilized and he was able to be discharged. He had multiple ultrasounds the weeks following to monitor a rebleed. He ultimately did rebleed, the large amount of blood was drained for comfort and so that we could euthanize him at home. Spot insurance has been very quick with reimbursements and thoughtful. They reimbursed the euthanasia and cancelled his policy without me having to give them a call. As one can imagine, this has been a very difficult time for our pack and not having to hassle with insurance has been appreciated.

Terrible insurance company

Terrible insurance company, almost felt like a total scam. They lured me in with the promise of doing a pre-check on my cats' medical records so I wouldn't have to wait when I submitted a claim. I turned in all the year's worth of vet records, including the required comprehensive exam through their portal after sign up. Got an email three weeks later to say they never received any paperwork from me so couldn't do the pre-check. I emailed back with all the paperwork again and they responded once to say they would send a request to the vet. Several months go by and I don't hear anything so I assumed it had gone through. Then I submit a claim. I get a response back after several weeks and I had to submit a follow up query to say they didn't have the required paperwork to complete their pre-check so couldn't process my claim. I asked them what happened with everything I'd submitted and why that wasn't enough. They said the vet never responded to them. We called the vet. They couldn't find any indication they'd ever been contacted. I submitted all the exam paper again. Never heard back. I tried numerous times to contact them and never heard a thing. To top it all off, one of the claims I submitted for a wellness visit which (according to what I'd paid for) was supposed to be an automatic payout since it wasn't part of the insurance claim. Despite numerous asks on my end, they never paid it out or told me why they wouldn't. So, stay far far away from this one.

Insurance Scam

I wish I had read these reviews before changing over to Embrace Pet Insurance. I wholeheartedly agree with the people who were taken in by pre-existing conditions of lipomas and tartar, which apparently was the reason my claim was denied...and will be denied in the future for any of these reasons. I told my vet how they are even lumping the catch-all, "including cancer," as a pre-existing condition; she was appalled. Just to be clear, my dog has never had cancer. I spoke with a representative, who was syrupy (and condescendingly) sweet, but could provide no reason why I should even have pet insurance. Each hypothetical injury/disease was met with the standard "well, it depends on XYZ" or "each case is different." Bottom line, they will do and/or say anything to get out of helping to pay your bill. In fact, if I had set aside the money I paid in premiums, I would have saved close to the actual bill amount. Because this company is associated with USAA, I thought it would be better than a basic insurance company. Boy, was I wrong! Save yourself heartache and time by "paying" yourself the premium cost and using that to take care of the bills.

Online Easy!

I did everything online. It was so very easy and covered what I wanted for my pup. I haven't had to make a claim yet, happy day, but as a Veteran in the Soldier's Best Friend, program I'm sure my pup is in good care with this insurance and Riverside Veterinarian Clinic here in Tucson.

Spot was a God-send when our dog…

Spot was a God-send when our dog decided to eat a sock followed by a mouthful of pea gravel. The surgery would have been a huge blow to our budget, but Spot saved the day! The mothly cost. is very reasonable, and about the same as what we were paying for Banfield, and Banfield never covered big emergencies, they only gave a 20% discount. I recommend Spot to all my friends.
