Was easy to sign up and less expensive than other pet insurers. Have not used it yet, so can't say how fast they reimburse.

Spot Pet insurance is doing pretty well once you get started with them. I will complain though I never got my policy in the mail. I called and asked for one to be sent out to me and they said NO!!!!!!

What? No coverage for nutritional consults to address life-threatening disease?
That you don’t cover nutrition as an essential part of a dog’s health when considered in the context of alleviating life-threatening illness is appalling. My 12-year old female terrier mix has IBD, a life-threatening, incurable condition that must be carefully controlled through dietary modifications. My veterinarian/nutritionist herself has had many an argument with insurance companies over the failure of coverage for such procedures.

This program is a great value It was so easy to sign up both dogs, which you get a discount for, We signed up for the wellness program as well, because they are puppies. I cannot express how much gratitude and heartfelt thanks and appreciation that I feel for this wonderful company, Trupanion. Trupanion has been there, by my side, through the sudden illness of my three pets. A couple of years ago, my chihuahua needed a VERY expensive spine surgery on his neck for a blown out disc, a long expensive hospital stay and physiotherapy after his surgery. Nine months ago my four year old Yorkie needed a surgery for a collapsed trachea and required a long term hospital stay. She then developed pneumonia after surgery and was hospitalized for another long hospital stay. (Unfortunately she didn’t survive) My Papillon puppy woke one night shivering and vomiting and ended up in the hospital for a long hospitalization stay for a sudden illness and extremely high liver enzymes count….TWICE. Trupanion has paid out THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to my Vet and Vet specialists. As an injured, and permanently disabled Veteran living off of a pension and lifelong savings, I don’t know what I would have done without having Trupanion for my sick fur babies. I would have bankrupted my savings to save their lives, because, they are my babies, my life. Thank you Trupanion for taking care of everything without having me to worry about any medical finances when my babies were so sick. All I had to do was provided my policy number to my Vet and it was submitted to Trupanion and they took it from there! All the bills were immediately paid, without any question or hassle for me and directly paid to the Vet. They even sent a follow up email asking how my pets were doing. While at the Vet Hospital this past November with my critically sick Papillon puppy, I had the pleasure to speak with another Veteran, also a senior citizen AND a Trupanion client. He was there waiting for his dog who was having an x-Ray to check on the rod and pins in his dogs leg and getting his bandaged changed.His dog’s leg was broken in two places and needed an EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE surgery to have his leg fixed with a titanium rod and pins. He told me that he had been paying into Trupanion for two years and never used it before, so, he figured it was a waste of his money and thought that he would never use it, because his 120 pound dog was like a horse and just as healthy. He said that he actually picked up his phone on that Friday, several weeks prior, and dialled Trupanion’s number to cancel his pet insurance. Due to unexpected company showing up at his house (miracle intervention he called it) he hung up before a Trupanion agent answered his call, with the intention of calling back later. His visitors ended up staying for dinner, it got late and he then forgot to call back to cancel the insurance. The very next morning, while out on their morning walk, his dog fell through a big hole in the ground and broke his leg in two places. He said that without the insurance he would have had to put his beloved companion dog down, because he couldn’t afford the surgery. With that, out comes his dog, running around, as if he had nothing wrong. His dog’s leg was wrapped in a bandage with Remembrance Day Poppies all over it….soooo nice! Please believe me when I say…just go and buy the Trupanion medical insurance for your pet, because you will NOT regret it.
