Frankie

I never thought I would be in the vet hospital on New Year’s Eve because my girl Frankie aspirated. She stayed in the hospital for many days. It was so stressful but I can’t thank healthy paws enough for taking the burden away of huge medical bills. They have also reached out numerous times to check on her wholeheartedly. Thank you from everyone in my family ❤️

Nationwide - whole pet and wellness

I can’t say enough good things about Nationwide specifically their whole pet health and wellness plan. If you take care of your animals and take them for their shots and wellness exams and turn in all your claims with the 90% coverage, you can’t go wrong. The claim process is easy there’s an app within 24 hours of submitting your invoices and claim you get a email confirming receipt and within 24 to 48 hours you get a text message of the refund being issued and within another 24 to 48 hours it’s in your bank account My one Labrador tore her Achilles tendons at one year of age I was so worried and having the peace of mind of that insurance was a lifesaver. Nationwide covered 90% of her stem cell treatment and rehab. Now she is six years old and she’s really injured her Achilles tendons again. We’re going through treatment and rehab now and once again, I think God for this coverage. I can’t even imagine having to make a life choice, because the cost of caring for my animal is too much financially

Hop on Board before Your Pet Ages!

If you can get in on time (aka: before any pre-existing conditions form), this is a lifesaver. After facing crippling vet bills with my older German shepherd who I did not think to get insurance on, I rapidly placed my younger shepherd on Pumpkin. I was worried since about her lack of robust vet records since she was from Mexico, but we got on a plan, and it has been a year of being able to breathe a little easier. Pumpkin is fast to work with you on the phone, and generally processes claims quickly. They cover a lot, and I've always been anxious about pet insurance trying to find the most miniscule excuse to avoid covering something that falls under the policy (as some vets have told me is common with some insurers), but Pumpkin is not one of those. Even though they raise the price as your companion ages, the sheer positive experience I've had does not make this a deal breaker for me. Some constructive criticism: it would be nice if Pumpkin could let you access your past electronic claims. Once you submit an electronic claim, you can't see what you submitted anymore. It would also be nice if Pumpkin let you access the full records that they pull from the vet when processing claims. This is just a detail that would make it more convenient, rather than taking notes on the side to keep track of illness history and pulling records from the vet frequently.

Switched from current insurance company…

Switched from current insurance company to Spot. Price point and coverage options were great. Hoping to never use it, but happy to know coverage is in place. Quote process and activation was super easy, user-friendly. Excellent experience.

Purchased spot pet insurance two years…

Purchased spot pet insurance two years ago. We have sold our pet and now cannot cancel our policy because they will not pick up their phone calls, or my emails are unable to send . I’ve tried changing my password that isn’t possible either. I had to go through my bank to stop payment which cost me additional money.

Pet Parent

I had to call Trupanion Customer Service twice to get an update on my claim that was taking a long time to be settled. The first time I called it was more than 3 weeks after I submitted the claim. They said it would be another 7-10 days, and they were waiting for my dogs’ records from her Vet. They had already received them the week prior. I called a second time after the 10 days had passed, and the Rep said it would probably be another few days or so. I asked how many days, and she would not give me a definitive answer. All I was expecting was an honest timeframe. I have submitted claims with Trupanion several times during my senior dogs’ lifetime, and they have been settled within one to two weeks. Not this time! And the communication was not up to their normal standards. Frustrating and disappointing.

This is the absolute worst insurance

This is the absolute worst insurance. My dog's coverage began in November 2022. In January 2023, I took her in for hair loss spots. They gave her allergy pills to try; although, it wasn't confirmed that was the issue since she had no other symptoms. Claim was denied due to being pre-existing. I've NEVER taken her in for hair loss. I took her in twice (back to back) at the end of January because she was extremely ill, throwing up and had flu-like symptoms. Claim was denied due to being pre-existing. The first visit of those two days was listed as allergies, also, when it was very clear she was in there due to being sick. How is it possible for a gastrointestinal illness to be a pre-existing condition? Needless to say, I will not be renewing this policy. Big scam. They take your money and deny claims. UPDATE: Because my dog had an ear swab for an ear infection prior to the policy, they denied her recent visit when they swabbed her ears to rule out an ear infection. So they basically will attribute any type of sickness as pre-existing, even though it's an illness that can happen multiple times and is not related to any previous instances. THIS COMPANY IS A TOTAL SCAM!! I wish we could respond to their ridiculous answer, which shows that they are a scam, because any type of illness will always be considered pre-existing, even if it's the flu. They are a SCAM. They take your money and deny your claims. And their "chat" doesn't work. You sit there forever only to get it canceled and told to call in.

Thank Goodness for Healthy Paws!

Without pet insurance, I would be broke, really broke! My little Loki developed bad hot spots and went on permanent injections that forever cured him. What a happy guy! The eight week lifetime injections are very expensive. In what, three clicks I think, Healthy Paws reimburses directly into my bank account. Boom, done. Of course Loki's had run-ins with porcupines and what-not, living up here in Maine where we tend to the woods for daily long walks. Then he tore his CCL (like an ACL knee in humans). $6000 later but no worries, we're 90% covered by Healthy Paws so we took the BEST surgery option for our little bug. No questions asked, Healthy Paws reimbursed my account in just two days. Boom. Pet insurance is WAY cheaper than unexpected vet bills, especially persistent ones, and especially here up north, and although my work offers a discounted plan with another company, we like our choice of Healthy Paws so we're sticking with them.
