I paid for a policy with Spot Pet…

I paid for a policy with Spot Pet Insurance and when it actually mattered, they denied everything. Every claim I submitted was rejected using an extremely broad “pre-existing condition” argument based on symptoms from years before coverage—even without a confirmed diagnosis. It didn’t matter that the condition progressed or became severe later. The worst part was the euthanasia claim. The policy clearly lists end-of-life expenses as covered, yet they denied it anyway by tying it back to the same pre-existing reasoning. They didn’t even review it separately—just lumped it in with the rest and denied it with no clear explanation. This isn’t just about one claim—it’s how they interpret the policy. If they can link anything to a prior symptom, they’ll use it to deny coverage entirely. At that point, what are you actually paying for? Thank you for the response, but this is exactly the disconnect I’ve been pointing out. You state that you “never want a pet parent to feel dismissed or unsupported,” yet my experience has been the opposite. All claims—including emergency care and euthanasia—were denied under a broad pre-existing condition determination, without a clear, claim-specific explanation. At the same time, I received a templated condolence email and an unsolicited phone call offering sympathy. Given the context, those communications felt disingenuous rather than supportive—especially while the financial impact of these denials remains unresolved. You mention that decisions are based on medical records and documented symptoms. However, the euthanasia records themselves do not identify a specific diagnosis or explicitly link the procedure to a pre-existing condition. Despite that, the claim was denied without a clear explanation addressing that gap. I have already requested these explanations and have either been ignored or provided templated responses like this one.

They used to be good. Not anymore!

They used to be good. But, once you renew your policy, they start doing whatever they can to deny claims, their responses get slower and slower, and their prices go up. They try to relating EVERYTHING to a prior condition in an effort not to pay the claim. My dog recently visited an ER because she had bloody diarrhea. They denied the claim because she has a previous condition of osteoporosis-artheritis. Huh??? No longer happy - at all!

Nothing is covered!

I picked Prudent Pet Insurance after doing some research. Unfortunately, this company does not appear to be transparent in their insurance coverage. I brought my dog to the emergency vet and paid almost $1300 and was reimbursed less than $200. They hide details in the fine print and although I thought I had done my research, their sales tactics are deceiving.
