Embrace waited 6 months to do a medical review. I was well past the waiting period & claim was denied. Now I’m having hard time reaching anyone on getting a refund for that pets premium.

I have had two policies and I will have more in the future. I've had nothing but good experiences, both with claim payment and interactions with representatives. Filing claims is easy, they get paid promptly, but that alone isn't what has sold me on having these policies now and in the future. The difference is that the people you interact with genuinely care. You can tell. When I lost my dog to cancer, I got an e-mail condolence (and they cancelled my auto pay for me), but I got a hand-written card from someone I had spoken to one time, months before, about some bank issue I had. So getting the next policy was a no-brainer, and I have shared this information with everyone who asks me. I work in vet med, and I have a background with insurance. I can tell who cares and who doesn't. Everyone I've interacted with has been amazing, and that is hard to find. So it's a quality product and they are quality people.

Stay away from MetLife dog insurance
We first signed up with MetLife on December 29, 2022, for a pet insurance policy with 100% coverage and a $200 annual deductible. The monthly premium was quoted at $65.36. Our dog, a Great Dane mix, had just turned one on October 31, 2022, and had no pre-existing conditions at the time. When it came time to renew the policy on December 29, 2023, the coverage remained the same, but the premium increased to $90.30/month — a 38% hike. When I reached out to MetLife, I was told the increase was due to rising veterinary costs in our area. We accepted the new rate and moved on. However, on November 23, 2024, I received an email stating our policy would renew again on December 29, 2024 — this time with a new premium of $182.20/month. That’s a 100.17% increase from the $90.30/month we were paying just one year ago! I called MetLife on November 24, 2024, to ask about the drastic rate hike. I spoke to two representatives. The first couldn’t explain which factor contributed to the 100.17% increase, while the second claimed the hike was due to our dog’s age — he turned 3 years old on October 31, 2024. They also mentioned that location and breed could affect rates, but neither could provide specific details on how these factors applied to our situation. In the end, the decision is yours, but based on these facts, I would not recommend MetLife dog insurance to anyone!

My claims get processed pretty quickly
My claims get processed pretty quickly. I do wish food and supplements that a veterinarian had prescribed were covered though.

Embrace Review
Well, this is complicated. I had both my dogs with Trupanion for several years and only filed one broken tooth claim. They do not cover as much as Embrace so I switched insurance companies and added my 6 cats, so I have policies on all 8 pets. I have had to make claims now on a couple of pets and the process is long, especially the 1st claim as they do a deep dive into history looking for any evidence of pre-existing conditions. Any little mention gets flagged (like pink tinged fur on a foot excludes any dermatological condition for 12 months) Samson broke out is bad hives from a supplement given to him, it was not covered because of that pink-tinged fur possibly being dermatitis. (it wasn't, or I would have had him looked at for it) But overall, after a couple of claims under my belt, Embrace seems to be as good as any? They do cover more, so there's that.

Embrace eats and leaves no crumbs
Embrace’s policies are easy to understand and they don’t try to wriggle out of a claim. My most recent claim was processed and deposited in my account in under 7 days. Couldn’t be more pleased.

Easy experience
Found out my fur baby girl had a mast cell tumor. Had to have it removed and starr seeing an oncologist. Uploaded my invoices and was reimbursed within a week or so. Very easy experience!

I am pleased with the completion of 4 of my claims. There is still one outstanding that I have sent everything's about that claim to you. Copper came to me as a tiny 8 week old puppy. He has never had any medical issues until this year which you have received the total information. Margaret Mauldin.
