Avoid Pets Best at all costs!

PETS BEST PET INSURANCE SUCKS! DON'T BUY IT WHATEVER YOU DO!!! THEY SAY THAT THEY COVER EMERGENCY VISITS. WELL, MY FUR BABY WAS DEATHLY SICK AND THEY DENIED MY $5000 CLAIM. I'M GOING TO CANCEL MY POLICY WITH THEM IMMEDIATELY. PLEASE DON'T USE THEM AND SPREAD THE WORD THAT THEY LIE! Thank you. P.S. She is doing much better now. It was just very expensive out of pocket. But she's my baby!

So Very Disappointing

We have been insuring our dogs for years with PetsBest using it very infrequently--only once years ago that I remember. This time it was for our 7 year old Bichon Frise, Sadie, who goes to the vet regularly for her normal well care. In December we saw two bottom front teeth felt loose. Vet exam suggested removal of some more loose teeth within a year. We returned 9 months later to set up the removal. Our vet assured us "little dogs", especially this breed often suffer this tooth issue, and it can develop rapidly. Once our vet got in there many of her teeth showed periodontic disease & to protect her health and life those teeth had to be removed and the disease cleaned out. MUCH TO OUR SURPRISE PetsBest totally turned down an over $2400 vet bill because we did not put our dog under anesthesia for a dental cleaning within 13 months of the procedure. Our dogs are medically well taken care of, but we honestly would not put our pup under anesthesia for a teeth cleaning regularly. Her teeth were checked every visit it was only recently that we noticed 3 loose teeth and we complied with the vet's timeline NEVER thinking there was that much periodontal disease that was threatening our dog's existence. After paying thousands of dollars in premiums to PetsBest over 7 years of this dog's life and now 3 years of our Shih Tzu's life we are basically ready to CANCEL both of our dogs' PETS BEST INSURANCE as it was more economical to pay for the multiple tooth extraction out of pocket than it was to pay all those years of premiums PLUS the NOW out of pocket procedure cost. YES, we admit that upon researching the policy after the denial, we did find the stipulation regarding the cleaning within 13 months in order for the procedure to be covered but we also found that little dogs, especially Bichons can have a rapid onset of this life-threatening condition. Also PetsBest as far as we see in the policy does not cover the under anesthesia teeth cleaning. We had the vet price the cleaning procedure for us and the cost is between $1600 to $2100 dollars including tax. WHY are we bothering to pay all this money to PetsBest when they won't cover a lifesaving procedure when we need it. Also this is basically what our vet said about our dog's condition when we found the original noticeable teeth issue and we asked if we did anything to cause it before we even found out how extensive it was : "Periodontal disease is a common and serious dental condition in Bichon Frises, affecting a significant portion of the breed. In a 2024 UK VetCompass study of 1,780 dogs, 19.4% of Bichon Frises were recorded with periodontal disease, with prevalence estimates ranging from 17.6% to 21.4% pet-index.com. This makes it one of the more frequent chronic dental conditions in the breed, second only to allergies in veterinary visits Bichon Frise Club of America. Be really careful what pet insurance you choose to pay for your animals and READ the policy closely before you sign up. We would NOT have chosen a policy that required an "under anesthesia dental cleaning" for a pup of any age no less 7 years old unless specifically recommended by our vet for a specific reason--not to mention at that cost for a cleaning that would NOT have stopped this dental condition in this breed and then have to do the follow up procedure anyway makes PetsBest premiums a waste of money.

So easy!!!

Submitting claims for my dogs is so easy, I pay the vet with my Care Credit and Pets Best sends the payment directly to them. I love this, it makes keeping track of the medical expenses, for my six dogs, so easy! Amazing!!!!"

I Can't Recommend Pets Best Enough!

Usually, I dread dealing with insurance companies (doesn't everyone?!), but Pets Best has been a refreshing exception. We've had our policy for just under a year, and I genuinely couldn't be happier. The customer service has been outstanding, claims are processed promptly, explanations of benefits are clear and easy to understand, and reimbursements for eligible expenses arrive quickly. The coverage has been worth every penny of the annual premium—especially with a mischievous little puppy! I truly can't recommend Pets Best enough. We tell everyone how satisfied we are, and I hope they don't change a thing. I almost never write reviews, so please know that I mean every word of this one. Pets Best was recommended to us by several of my colleagues, and now I'm the one recommending it to my friends, family, and anyone looking to give their pet the best possible care. The greatest gift this insurance provides is peace of mind. When our girl needs veterinary care, we never have to hesitate or worry that the cost of an unexpected accident or illness will force us into difficult decisions. We know she can receive the best care available, and we don't have to carry the financial stress alone. That peace of mind is absolutely priceless, and it's why we'll continue recommending Pets Best to every pet owner we know. THANK YOU Pets Best for outstanding care :)

Excellent Coverage, Prompt Reimbursement

"Been using your company for several years. For the past 8 months have made monthly claims for my dog's needed injections (which are life-changing). The initial approvals process was clear and prompt, and since then every monthly claim gets reimbursed within days of receipt. I couldn't ask for a better insurance provider!!!!!"

Pet insurance review

The claim process for me was lenghty even though the site claims to process claims quickly. I feel they are looking for reasons to deny the claim. I would not recommend Pets best. They use to be better, i went by previous reviews but not now.

Fast claim processing without delays

I filed 4 separate claims for a cancer diagnosis in my pet, The first claim went to deductible and the subsequent 3 were paid rapidly and without multiple denials or questions. I am very pleased with the speed and process.

Affordable Pets Best Insurance

I've never had pet insurance but we have a new 1 year old cat so I signed up with Pets Best. At a young age, the insurance is affordable. Still, I didn't know if it would be worthwhile. It was. I added a Wellness Plan and took the cat to my vet for a checkup. Pets Best reimbursed me for her exam, heartworm test and, surprisingly, for her Preventative flea/tick/heartworm meds. That alone was worth the investment. It takes away the worry when I have to take her to the vet. "
