Mostly Positive Experience

I feel that the time it takes for claims to be processed is incredibly long. I have had other claims for auto/renters/home that have been processed in a matter of hours, so I know that with a big company like Nationwide, it is very possible to speed these processes up. I am glad that I decided to get pet insurance for the most part. I was disappointed that when coverage plans were improved when VPI moved under the Nationwide umbrella, that my pet, who was still very young, did not qualify. I have recommended VPI to many friends since joining, and I feel that there wasn't much loyalty to existing customers when that happened.

Great claim processing

Nationwide claims are processed easily, quickly and accurately. The only wish I would have is to be able to submit the claim through the web portal rather than the need to scan and email (or send through the postal system) the claim form. Overall the process is hassle free and I received the reimbursement quickly.

Thank You!

Our girl recently picked up an ear and skin infection while being boarded and by the time they took her to their vet, and then we took her to our vet (because she wasn't eating either and very depressed) and got a different diagnosis and medicine, we had a healthy vet bill. She had just had her yearly physical and so we got a healthy portion of our vet bill back because our yearly deductible had been met. She's fine now and they have no idea how she even got it but Nationwide is great. We had a different company when she was younger and she was never ill, the cost was the same and we never got any money back from her yearly wellness visits. My daughter's vet recommended Nationwide when they got their dog and it was so much better, we switched and have not regretted it.

Great insurance

Love recouping 90% of my costs. You can receive reimbursement electronically which is nice. However, there are extremes on the timeline of when you receive reimbursement. It ranges from 1 week to 3 weeks later. I really like this product. I'm waiting for the day they reimburse the vet directly like with human insurance.

For the most part satisfactory

It’s been nice having pet insurance when needed. Like most insurance you wonder if it will ever be worth the cost, but when you need it for an injury or Illness it’s comforting to know that some of the expenses will be covered.

Love our pet insurance! Makes the difference in being able to afford her recent emergency care!

Nationwide has been excellent to deal with on claims for our pooch. From basic wellness to a recent emergency situation they processed quickly. When I called to discuss claims the first thing they asked was how is she doing now? Hoping she was better, customer service made me feel like she was not just a claim number for them. I absolutely recommend and will use them for any new pet in our future. It’s a comfort to know that we can care for our girl the way she deserves as part of our family!

Attention to Detail, Lacking

When I got my little Ada, I was excited to get her insurance with you. It was a very painless process when I got Zeus, Sebastian, and Danni on VPI insurance and I rarely had an issue. However, getting Ada on your insurance has been a nightmare. When I signed her up, I provided the phone number and address of where she was taken prior to me adopting her to obtain her medical records. I didn't find out until a month later that you didn't have her medical records when a claim was denied and when I called and asked why you hadn't obtain the records, your agent stated that they had called but they had never heard of Ada. When she read the phone number back to me that was in your computer, it was incorrect. I told her that I would just have all the records sent to you. I had Ada's medical records mailed, faxed and email to you on 4 separate occasions and every time I called, it was "we have not received them". On the 5th attempt and getting very angry with the agent telling me I didn't understand, I asked for a manager. She was very professional and I explained to her that I was copied on the same email that they were and I forward the email with all Ada's records to her. She promptly got everything taken care of which was the fastest I've seen a claim come from you. I explain the situation with my vet's office and they have heard from other clients that had VPI in the past, are not happy with the service that Nationwide is providing.
