Why we cancelled our pet insurance !!

After rescuing our dog in March 2024 we chose to invest in pet insurance to defray veterinary costs. We chose Embrace Insurance, what a mistake we now much regret. The cost 66.00 a month for our rescue of 7 years old with a 250.00 deductible per year with No Wellness visits included. Pre-existing conditions not covered which we fully understood, apparently everything imaginable is a pre-existing condition as we were not reimbursed a single cent for any of the claims we submitted. We received a notice that our monthly bill would rise in April 2025 to 112.00 per month, almost doubled because she is now a year older. Beware Embrace Insurance is not worth the money we lost nearly 800.00 in 1 year and we are letting you know this so you don’t lose out too.

Shameful practices

Healthy paws has just increased my monthly premium from $250 to over $600 per month. This is outrageous and they appear to be blaming it on our state (California, the usual whipping boy for everyone). I have been a customer for many years with barely any claims. One of my dogs is older now and for almost the first time, I have made sizable claims so I’m pretty sure this is the real reason. But…..this is precisely why you pay into insurance from when they were puppies(in our case 8 weeks old) ….. so that all the years you pay premiums and claim nothing are at least partially offset by the claims you have to make when they age. I don’t know why they couldn’t make up the shortfall (if this story about what our state requires is true) on the back of new customers instead of shafting existing customers. Now I have to look for a new insurer for a dog with preexisting conditions. Shameful!

Takes a little time for a claim to be taken care of but it usually is. I’m thankful for that.

Very responsive

Very responsive! My two cats started having issues (ear infection, vomiting, heart murmur…) and I was getting quite anxious about the piling bills but Spot has been super fast reimbursing me (they say it can take up to 2-3 weeks but they took 1). Thank you Spot for supporting my kitties’ health!

Pets Best has been a life saver for my dog that has just had awful luck with illness and injuries. I am not sure he would still be with me had I not had this insurance. They have paid 90% and I have had no issues getting paid. Payments always seem to make it to my account before the credit card bill is due.

This is a terrible insurance company

This is a terrible insurance company. They claimed "pre-existing condition" for something that was never indicated on my rescued pet (balls never descended so when he was neutered it was an invasive surgery and expensive).
