Out Dated Payment Schedule
We have had this insurance for over 12 years, without any major claims until now. Premium is about $1800 annually for two dogs. This year we had two big claims, 1. bowel obstruction, 2. growth on splean. They use a very outdated UCR payment schedule. Basically, they only pay a portion of what these services cost 10 years ago. They paid only about 35% of the actual bill for these two major claims. After review, this VPI is not worth the premium. Spent more on this insurance than our regular vet bills. We will not be renewing.

My claims were dealt with very quickly and the reasons for what was eligible and what wasn't were clearly defined. Thank you!

Life Saver (Financially)
I have three SC Wheaten Terriers, two of which are highly allergic. So now after lots of antibiotics and such, they are on life time allergy shots. Trupanion covers 90% for me, so I'm very grateful. Plus, the vet submits the claim online and I pay the difference at checkout.

Extremely pleased!
I have had this insurance for the past five years and I have been very pleased overall. Whenever I had a question or needed to submit a claim, it was very easy and it was processed very quickly. I have referred at least three people to get it and the ease of using the mobile app is truly great. Claims are completed within a couple weeks. I am so very happy to have this and would highly recommend it to anyone with a four legged family member!

Glad we bought it
Our pit-bull hound mix is almost 9 years old. We bought VPI (now Nationwide) 3 years ago. She has a preexisting condition that is not covered (incontinence) but she is otherwise healthy. In August 2014 and April 2015 we had to have 2 dental surgeries. Our deductible is $500 but the surgeries themselves were about 2k each. No hassles at all. The Vet's office filed the claim for us and we got a check from Nationwide in about 2 weeks. Although her annual premiums will rise with her age, we will definetly renew every year. We just can't have her suffering from a broken tooth or an abcess. The alterative would be to pay out of pocket, on our credit card.

Peace of Mind
My 8 year old Bernese Mountain dog was recently diagnosed with Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. This was not a pre-existing condition. He became ill very quickly, but I was able to get the assistance of my veterinarian who quickly referred to our local animal hospital. He was admitted initially for 4 days and then subsequently had another overnight visit. The veterinarians at both facilities that have been caring for him have had ready access to Trupanion and as per the perameters of the insurance, I have been able to get the best care available for my companion. We are only three weeks into treatment and my buddy continues to improve although we may have a long journey ahead of us. Nonetheless, knowing that I can support my guy with the appropriate medical treatment certainly reduces some of the stress (both emotionally and financially). Trupanion has processed my claims in a very timely manner and maintains contact via email and post. Claims have been submitted directly by the veterinarians that have been involved in Jackson's care. I am not exactly sure the total expenses incurred so far, but I suspect that we are reaching the $10K mark. This has included various diagnostic services (CT Scan, EEG, ultra sound, ongoing blood work) and two transfusions to date. Trupanion has lived up to its' end of the bargain. I would recommend Trupanion.
