Grateful We Found Pet’s Best
I’ve had pets my entire life but never opted for pet insurance. I’ve had some hefty bills but figured the occasional large expense would be offset by the insurance annual premiums, deductibles, etc. And, truthfully, I was really skeptical about coverage and cynical that there would be a lot of hoops and hidden exclusions. However, after hearing a few traumatic stories over the last year, I decided that 2025 would be the year we’d finally get coverage for our dog, Hope. A good friend had recently gotten a puppy and did her homework thoroughly vetting insurance companies. Her decision, after a lot of analysis, was Pet’s Best so I took her lead and, on Jan 3, I opened our first ever policy. I paid annually for a slight savings and was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t cost as much as I had expected. ($450 / yr for 5 yr old healthy dog, $1k deductible, 90% reimbursement, no routine care). I certainly hoped I’d never need it and filed the paperwork away. For injury, there is a 3 day waiting period so on 1/6 I was notified Hope was now covered. To our horror, on the evening of 1/8, I let Hope out in our fenced in yard (very safe, no dangerous areas, etc) while I bundled up for our evening walk. Within minutes, she returned to the door with an 8” x 5” area of her flesh ripped off her right shoulder and chest. It was a horrific injury and we still have no idea how it happened even after walking our property countless times. We have a new fence with nothing sharp so it wasn’t the fence. There were no punctures so not a bite. We are doubtful a bear was inside our fence as they are not too common in our area but it’s the only creature that could do this amount of damage with one swipe. It will likely always be a mystery. In any case, we rushed Hope to an emergency vet where she needed over 60 stitches. Unfortunately due to the location and size of the injury, blood flow to the wound was a challenge and the skin became necrotic. Over the last 20 days, Hope has had 4 surgical procedures. The final one was complex, involving intubation, anesthesia, the removal of large areas of dead skin, installing a drain and stitching her back up. The bills have totaled $6k so far. I submitted our claims to Pet’s Best via a very quick and simple process on the app. They handled the rest, requesting the medical records directly from our vet. Miraculously, I heard within a week that our claims had been processed and paid. I was shocked at how simple they made the process and how quickly they reimbursed us without a single exclusion. This has been an extraordinarily stressful time as a pet owner but I am so grateful that we found Pet’s Best. I have already shared our story with many pet owning friends who share my former cynicism about insurance coverage. While the injury has certainly been a horrific experience, I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Pet’s Best. I highly recommend them!

Best pet insurance
I was able to give my dog the care he needed to save his life thanks to Healthy Paws. The claims process was simple, and reimbursement was fast. I could not ask for better service or care during a stressful time. There are no words to express my gratitude to my pet insurance company.

Price went up 50% in the last 3 years
In the last 3 years they keep raising premium prices. Ours went from $90 to $170. We’re told it’s because the industry raising rates, not because our dog is getting older, but it’s hard to believe.

Mirroring a review I have seen below
Mirroring a review I have seen below, they have zero interest in helping our animals…zero, extremely challenging to deal with to get our pup the help he needed and we couldn’t get a reimbursement at all for a general health check which had been included in our plan. The worst for me is, we just got charged an increased price without further notification of said increase or that a renewal was going to occur. This company is essentially a money grab and using celebrity vets to pump up their name! Shame on you. Like any other insurance company it is only just about taking money and nothing about helping. They filled me full of shit about ‘waiving’ non coverage periods when you get seen within certain periods of coverage beginning…I was lied to. The response I got below is utter nonsense, if they gave a crap they would do the right thing and not just take money without ever showing a willingness to care for animals. WILL BE CANCELLING! And they charged an expired card

Do not waste your time or money on this service - it's horrible and literally useless.
They refuse to communicate without waiting on their phone line for long periods of time on hold and are not clear on the payouts. I've waited well over the time they have told me repeatedly my claim would be finished. Do not expect to get paid for months. I'm so sad my work picked this company to work with as a perk (because it hasn't been helpful at all so far), and I am running to my HR rep right now to share my experience with this company. Hopefully we'll get a new option next year Response to the Company: I've emailed that specific email you list here at least 3 times over various questions I've had in the past - with no response. Your online chat has NEVER worked, and emails go to a black hole. Sitting on hold for long periods of time is the only way your company communicates with people. Also, I see my claim has changed the amount of my allowance, yet - IT IS STILL PROCESSING AFTER 20 business days now and I still have heard nothing. Your company claims 5-10 days on its tracker. I'm baffled a MetLife company would actually be run this poorly tbh.

Luxating Patella Surgery
One of my pups recently had luxating patella surgery, and I am so glad that I had coverage from Pets Best, as orthopedic surgery is not cheap. I am in the veterinary field, so I have gone back and forth with myself about keeping coverage for my animals (I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, so it adds up quick) but this has definitely proven to me that it is totally worth every penny, because I was able to get my girl the best care possible, knowing I would get some of my money reimbursed to make it less stressful, financially. Filing the claim, uploading medical records, and everything was so easy. I was shocked by how quick the whole process was, and how quickly I was able to get the reimbursement. It helps me feel much more at ease, knowing that Pets Best is here to help if my animals need any sort of specialty, or emergency care. Even if you only have accident/illness coverage, it helps with the more unexpected things that come up. Overall I am very happy with my experience, and definitely recommend Pets Best to anyone who is looking to get pet insurance for their furry friends.
