Trupanion Saved the Day (after hours Labor Day)
We were warned that puppies are expensive, but we decided to pull the trigger anyways! We had only had little Remy for a few weeks when he got super sick on Sunday night of Labor Day weekend when our new vet was already closed...until Tuesday! We rushed him to an unknown after hours clinic where we were advised that if we didn't leave him overnight he may not make it (dehydration that main concern for the 9 lb. puppy). Leaving him overnight at a foreign place was nerve wracking enough, but they ensured us that the took Trupanion and that they are the best coverage they had seen. So that was comforting. Sure enough they were right! Trupanion coveraged exactly what they promised (90%)! And they dealt directly with the clinic so we didn't even have to pay out of pocket to get reimbursed. So easy! I called customer service a few times to get my insurance number and confirm coverage and they were SO nice! Overall incredible insurance experience and little Remy is doing great!

Always Impressed with Trupanion!!
I've had Trupanion for 6 years now and have 7 animals insured. My 17 year old cat has Hyperthyroid and, as a result, has ongoing issues. Trupanion has always taken care of the claims quickly. I can't stress enough...DO NOT WAIT UNTIL YOUR ANIMAL IS ILL TO GET INSURANCE. IF you insure them immediately upon adoption/purchase you'll love dealing with this company. I have always had more than a pleasant experience with them. For years I didn't have to make claims, however, over the last 12 months I've had claims paid on 5 of my 7 animals. The overall amount paid out by Trupanion was over $12,000. These policies allow me to provide top notch care for my fur kids :) The staff are ALWAYS wonderful to deal with and nice to chat with. IF you are shopping for insurance please consider this company...you won't be disappointed!

free trial -not really free
The free trial is really false advertising. The fine print says no claims will be paid during the first 30 days of sign up. Therefore - not really free is it? Its false advertising. My puppy came with a free trial and when I could not activate it, then I called in and was told that it only activates upon visiting the vet first and then activation within 24 hrs of that visit. So I went to the vet with them, then I registered them online. A week later, one of the puppies had low sugar and diarrhea. Trupanion wont cover the vet emergency as they said I did not activate the certificate within the time period (which I did according to the rep on the phone) and secondly, it is a precondition? Since when is low sugar and diarrhea a pre-condition? my pup stopped eating. I didn't know there was such a thing as precondition. Then the final thing: No coverage in the 1st 30 days of activation of certificate for free trial? Isn't that the point of free trial to get coverage and see if we liked it. I had registered to enrol further after my emergency visit and now I am going to remove all my pets from this insurance company. I have been led to believe that insurance is insurance, whether trial or not. I don't like to be falsely mislead.

Do not buy
Pets best may pay on time but in last four years my policy rate on my dog went from $57/mo -$128/mo -$169/mo to $212/ mo. Over last four years. For the same policy. Although they may start your rates low like other companies they raise them very quickly once your dog has an issue. I compared her rate to Trupanion. Which was $126/mo. Same breed age and location. Same deductible. Healthy Paws was $97/mo. Little higher deductible. These rates are $90+ / mo less. They have made it very difficult for me to do right by my dog. When I thought getting insurance was the responsible thing to do. Do not give them your business.

Great Service and Care
I have had dogs my whole life and never had pet insurance. I got pet insurance recently through Healthy Paws and I now wonder how I ever owned a dog without it! Vet bills are so high these days that paying for pet health insurance is not only smart in my opinion, but also gives you such peace of mind. Healthy Paws has to be the leader in giving you that peace of mind: they are responsive, timely, caring, and easy to work with. I know that my pet is going to be taken care of if something happens and I can't foot the bill without insurance. And I know with Healthy Paws that it won't be just about money -- it will be about sincerely caring for my pets and their wellbeing. I wouldn't go with any other company hands down -- in part because of the annual deductible rather than "per illness" or "per case" deductible. They've been great to me.

Amazing Insurance!!
I have insurance for my cat and dog. I have had to use it on both my pets. Submitting my claims were very easy to do. The reimbursements have been very quick. This last time my dog was boarded for a long weekend, she was bitten by another dog. Since it was a long weekend, my dog had to go to an emergency vet. Healthy Paws received my claim on the following business day. I received my check shortly after. I got an email shortly after that asking how my dog was. That made me feel good that they cared & took time out to ask. I tell all my friends that Healthy Paws is the way to go for pet insurance!
