Wish my own health insurance were this good!
We have had Trupanion for our terrier mix (now almost seven) since he was a pup, and we are so happy we got Trupanion. Ozzie has had a lot of unexpected issues: an acorn stuck in his throat when he was three months; a torn groin muscle at about two years; two attacks of pancreatitis due largely to his desire to eat absolutely anything he can get in his mouth; bites by large dogs twice. Trupanion has more than paid for itself, and the claims process is extremely easy and fast. I wish my own health insurance would spell out as clearly what is covered and what isn't.

Healthy Paws is outstanding!
Last Fall we got a Mini-Schnauzer puppy. Shortly after we signed up with Healthy Paws. Last month our boy became seriously ill. He required extensive hospitalization and major surgery. In addition to the mental trauma this caused us - there was also financial concern as the treatment was extremely expensive. No need to worry- Healthy Paws delivered exactly as promised! And they did it quickly. I urge other pet owners to sign up with them. They are by far the best insurance company I've ever dealt with.

Healthy Paws denied all claims related to a disease that caused the death of our kitten.
My wife and I recently lost our 9 month kitten to feline infectious peritonitis. We had recently purchased Healthy Paws insurance from a recommendation and took our kitten in to the vet during the Healthy Paws 15 day grace period because she had an eye infection. Silly us for trying to take care of our cat. After the grace period had passed, our kitten began to show very worrying symptoms unrelated to her eye. Over the course of the next few days, we took her back to the vet, and then escalated to emergency hospitals, etc. But FIP is incurable, and we were unfortunately not able to save her. After many tears, we started filing claims with Healthy Paws. Despite the pain of losing the kitten, my wife and I were glad that we had recently bought insurance. But it turned out that didn't matter. Even though the vet had not initially linked the eye infection to FIP, Healthy Paws decided that it was evidence of a pre-existing condition and denied every single one of our claims related to our kitten's illness and death. They said they were very sympathetic to our loss, but still denied the claims. No doubt Healthy Paws will respond to this review with all kinds of excuses. But the fact is that as responsible pet-parents we took our kitten to the vet for a minor eye infection during the Healthy Paws grace period and Healthy Paws decided that was enough to deny all claims. We would have been in a much better situation if we were irresponsible and just let our kitten suffer the eye infection until the grace period was over. Then Healthy Paws couldn't have claims a pre-existing condition. My take-home is that Healthy Paws is a great idea if your pet gets physically injured and they can't find a shred of evidence that the injury has any historical basis. God help you if your pet gets a disease of some kind, even one that's fatal.

Speedy claim recovery and timely follow-ups
Never thought pets needed insurance, but at my wife's behest, researched a ton and decided on Embrace. We have a 2.5 year old Yorkie who has had no issues until the last few months, when he dislocated a rear leg and had some breathing issues. The vet bills immediately started stacking up and we are so relieved (and happy) that we decided to purchase insurance from Embrace. Claim checks received in the mail within a month of vet visits, and timely follow-ups from customer service representatives. Definitely recommended from a happy customer!

THE BEST PET INSURANCE COMPANY EVER!
I am not someone who typically writes reviews; but, Healthy Paws is such an amazing company that I want to shout it from the rooftops! I rescued a kitten, Murphy, last summer, and knew that veterinary care was part of being a responsible pet owner. As a graduate student, my income in very limited. Thus, I started researching pet insurance companies almost immediately. After thorough research, I settled on Healthy Paws because: (1) Premiums cannot be raised based on how many claims you submit, (2) There is no lifetime limit on coverage (this is especially important given the lifespan of cats), (3) You can visit ANY veterinarian you want (including specialists) and be reimbursed based on your specific bill... Not predisposed charges set by the insurance company, and (4) It's also a foundation that helps homeless pets. I chose the $100 annual deductible with 90% reimbursement. Signing up was incredibly easy, and my monthly payment is so reasonable for the comprehensive coverage being offered. Now, I will admit that there was a part of me that felt like Healthy Paws might be too good to be true. In the back of my mind I always wondered if, come the day I actually needed to use the insurance, my claim would be denied based on some loophole I was unaware of. Well, fast forward to about six months into our policy. We noticed Murphy had stopped eating, and new he needed to be taken to a veterinarian immediately. I checked Healthy Paws' iPhone app, which has an incredibly transparent and helpful FAQ section, while I was in the waiting room to ensure that everything regarding this visit would be covered. Murphy had to be hospitalized overnight, and several diagnostic tests and medications were administered. All in all, Murphy's visit cost $1200.00. At checkout, I asked for an itemized receipt and uploaded it to Healthy Paws' iPhone app for reimbursement. To my amazement, the claim was processed and approved LESS THAN 24 HOURS later. Healthy Paws literally covered every service from the second they took Murphy back from the exam room. I received the reimbursement check in the mail in about 4 days, and the sweetest follow-up email from Healthy Paws' customer service department checking on Murphy. This company's integrity and customer service is TOP NOTCH. I can't convey the peace of mind this policy gives me; I know now that I will be able to provide Murphy with the best veterinary care for the rest of his life without having to compromise on his treatments or worry a

Pet insurance with a heart
I have two miniature dachshunds and they are my pride and joy. Before I got them I did a lot of research on which breed would best suit my lifestyle, and all books about dachshunds mention that back problems (IVDD specifically) are a real risk.I have wanted a dog for all of my life but have always considered them to be a responsibility to be taken very seriously. Although I am now in a great situation to finally have pets, an expensive vet bill is still a risk (and IVDD treatments can cost up to $10,000). Getting a pet insurance was therefore a no brainer for us. Because my husband and I are with USAA, we were recommended Embrace Insurance. After doing some research, it seemed like one of the best pet insurance out there. We have been very diligent in sending Embrace any update (microchip and neuter status), and waived the waiting period for both our dogs by submitting an orthopedic exam from our vet. Last month, Cashew started acting weird and was diagnosed with paraparesis, a sign of IVDD. Our vet recommended immediate action for his pain and comfort, as well as a solid rehab program for the future. When I called Embrace to check that these items would be covered, they were extremely helpful on the phone as well as compassionate (it was a really hard time for me, knowing that my baby was in pain). I also asked my vet to fill in the pre-certification form for all our future expenses, including acupuncture, laser therapy, electrical stimulation and a complete rehab package, and got a very quick response from Embrace that it would be covered. It's now been more than three weeks since Cashew's condition has been diagnosed and he is back at 95%!! Our vet has done a fabulous job, but Embrace also deserve a huge thank you. They were quick and lovely to deal with, and I cannot recommend them enough. In my opinion, being worried about your pet's health is horrible enough, being worried about paying for care is a nightmare you really don't need. Embrace made it so that I could concentrate on the important things and do whatever was necessary for my baby to get better!

In today's world where we deal with so many different companies every day, it's important to recognize companies like Embrace that provide an outstanding customer experience instead of just complain about the bad experiences. Their processes and communications are clear and concise, and ensure that the customer understands every step of the way. Every employee I've ever worked with throughout the claim process has treated me respectfully and treated my claims with the utmost care and professionalism. Kudos to all, and WOOF from my Bear!

Great service, no hassle, quick turnaround
We are so impressed with these guys (and gals) at Embrace. They process the claim and send a check before the credit card bill arrives. Sweet! The nicest thing is that our vet will file the claim for us; they do this for Embrace policy holders (but NOT for those of the other insurance companies) because it's easy for them and keeps us happy. We have not had any major illnesses, but I think we've already gotten back in nine months nearly as much as the cost of the policy. It adds up fast.
