So glad we had Trupanion

Our young, energetic and powerful staffy-mix unfortunately didn't know how to play fetch at a more moderate level of intensity. He tore is cruciat ligament turning and running up hill and came back limping. For larger dogs like this, the recommended procedure is TPLO surgery. There are other less expensive surgeries that are typically used on smaller dogs. at $4500, I was worried that Trupanion might only cover for the lower, more typical procedure. I held my breath for a couple weeks waiting for the outcome and was happy to see they covered the full 90% after deductible with no hassles. I understand that it took a bit of time to work through the claim as, a first time issue, they need to collect the history of all prior vet documentation. Now I need to ask whether post surgery physical therapy is covered despite not having athe special rider for PT... which may be non-surgery related PT.

Glad I purchased insurance

We have adopted three rescue dogs from the local Humane Society. My vet recommended that this time I go ahead and get pet insurance. My daughter did extensive research and we insured them up with Embrace. Our Rocky is a runner, he loves to run, and he managed to tear his cruciate ligament. The surgery is pricey but we went ahead and had it done, no issues with filing or payment of claims. I'm so glad we went ahead and signed up with Embrace, have recommended the company to multiple pet owners.

Efficient and easy to use

Insuring our pets has always been an action our family takes. Some might feel that the cost isn't worth it if you have a dog that never has a health issue but that is not usually the case. Granted, it can be pricey. Our Portuguese Water Dog recently got diagnosed with Addison's disease and the vet visits and emergency care required can be overwhelming. I'm grateful for the very easy to use claim submittal process and prompt processing of reimbursements. Also for the friendly, personal touch of checking in on our dog when it was clear there he was very ill. Thanks HealthyPaws!

Pleasantly surprised!

I switched from another pet insurance company due to poor customer service and lack of caring. I am so happy that I chose this company, the live chat is awesome and the constant communication is very reassuring. Fast claim response time too!

Because of Trupanion, My Dog Didn't Die of Cancer

In 2014 my Black Lab mix was diagnosed with bladder cancer and liver cancer. She had no symptoms; the tumors were found by accident through an annual exam. Kelly was born on my laundry room floor along with 7 other litter mates after I had rescued her fearful mother, Maggie, just 4 days earlier. The litter had to be bottle fed every 2 hours and Kelly was the runt - this would become the toughest rescue I would ever encounter. But my rewards would last for 13 years and 42 days. Two important factors guided my decision to pursue chemotherapy treatment for Kelly: she had excellent health insurance with Trupanion and despite her actual age, she had the energy of a 7 year old. So she first had surgery to remove the tumors in her bladder and on her liver, & then after she healed we started chemo with an Oncologist in Indianapolis. After 3 months of chemo, I needed to go back east to Baltimore so Kelly continued her chemo out east with a different Oncologist. Trupanion had no problem with the fact that we were switching back and forth between vets in different states. Reimbursements were even quicker when a Trupanion employee to me about direct deposit into my checking account. They make it so easy - no more delays and taking a check to the bank. There was a 3 month period of time that Kelly was in remission in early 2015, but then the bladder cancer slowly came back. So we started up a different course of chemo just to slow the bladder cancer down. Around this point, Kelly's medical bills were around $15,000.00. For both Maggie & Kelly I had $0 deduction with 90% reimbursement with Trupanion, so although their premiums were the highest on the scale it turned out to be the best choice overall. During the summer of 2015 Kelly's Indianapolis Oncologist moved out of state, so our next best choice was the Oncology department at Purdue University Veterinary School of Medicine 1.5 hrs away. Kelly was still holding her own, eating well, & I was looking forward to working the Vet who was the leading authority on canine bladder cancer in the country. Three days before Kelly was to start chemo at Purdue she passed away - not of cancer, but of a bleeding stomach ulcer caused by one of the cancer pills she was prescribed. A part of my heart left with her. In total, Kelly's cancer bills totaled $25,800.00. Without Trupanion, I would never have that last year with Kelly. Trupanion was great. I have 5 rescued dogs right now, and you never know their me

Very satisfied

We've used Healthy Paws for several years for our two dogs. One of our pups has had sporadic health issues during that time. Our experience with claims and reimbursement with Healthy Paws has been excellent with each occurrence. Our plan with HP includes a very reasonable premium and excellent coverage. We are highly pleased with our HP experience and recommend them as a great choice for those considering pet insurance.
