False Accusation of Pre-Existing Condition

I was given a free trial of Pet Secure after adopting my dog from my local SPCA. The first day we got our dog home we fed him some food and he chowed it down very fast. Shortly after he showed signs of bloating and also had a little diarrhea. We took him to the vet right away because of the bloating and the vet informed us that it wasn't anything too serious and gave us some medicine for his stomach and he was fine for the next two weeks. Fast forward to 2 weeks later and he was somewhat lethargic and not eating which is strange for him as he loves to eat. Took him to the vet again and was diagnosed with Parvo. We let the vet care for him for 1 day and decided to do home care for him ourselves. The next day that we got him back from the vet he was like himself again which is weird after reading horror stories of the Parvo virus. We treated him as if he was still fighting the virus and kept his fluids up and glad to say he's doing well. The one day care at the vet costed us $750. We put the claim through and was denied because Pet Secure stated that Parvo was a pre-existing condition and that he showed symptoms of the virus based on the first time we took him to the vet for bloating. While they may be right in that he most likely contracted the virus from the shelter but basing that decision on his first vet visit dealing with the bloating issue is just plain looking for an excuse not to cover the claim. Glad to say that I didn't waste any money with their useless policies. Like all insurance companies they will look for any reason to deny a claim even if they can make a connection to two unrelated issues. I currently have PetPlan for my two dogs now and have not had any issues with them. Keep your money and either a) Save the money you would have contributed to the insurance policy yourself for those unexpected vet bills b) Find an "actual" reputable pet insurance company such as PetPlan or Trupanion.

One satisfied customer

I submitted my claim for my dogs cancer diagnoses and heard back within 45 minutes that I had been approved and my reimbursement was issued. I dealt with Jessica and checked in to see how I was doing and even sent me a picture of her own dog lounging by her computer to brighten my spirits. Overall an amazing experience and I'm so happy were with Trupanion!

Paid a $3546 Claim for TPLO Surgery

These guys have come through for Chester once again! Last time it was for an ear infection but this time was for a terribly torn ACL! We've had Chester insured for 3 years now and out playing fetch with a frisbee the poor thing tore his ACL! We took him in, and it was such peace of mind to be able to say, we don't care how much it costs, WE HAVE PETS BEST! He underwent surgery and we submitted the claim to Pets Best online. 4 days later, they had reimbursed us over 3k!! Amazing. Recommend Pets Best to everyone we can.

The Best Decision We Ever Made

If you are looking for a great pet insurance company, look no further than Healthy Paws. Their service to our family has been excellent since day one. They responded in a timely manner to all my questions prior to signing up and made it so easy to know what were the coverages for each dog. There were no complicated coverage schedule, deductible policies or annual caps. And when we needed help the most they were there for us. Our little Pomeranian, Porsche, had a severe pneumonia infection and had to receive oxygen therapy for a week. The bills were mounting up (because oxygen is so expensive) and we were so worried about how were we going to continue to pay for treatment. Healthy Paws not only responded to my claims within 48 hours, they were also extremely sympathetic when I called them asking when payment will be released. Their customer service representative was so caring and kind during this extremely difficult time. I was a complete emotional wreck and the service agent just couldn't have been any sweeter. They were willing to work with us to release reimbursement as soon as possible so we wouldn't have to worry about finances and could just focus on getting her better. It really helped us continue to fight for her knowing we had help. When our precious angel succumbed to the illness, Healthy Paws was right there again helping us. They sent us their condolences immediately and told us they would cancel the policy and reimburse us for that month's premium. We even received our final reimbursement check within a week of her passing so we didn't need to worry about incurring interest fees on our credit card. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this company and their people. They really care about providing quality service and coverage for our furry loved ones. I think they are even better than human health insurance companies!

Best decision you can make for your pet & wallet

I'm currently a college student and I knew that when I got my Oripei puppy I knew that I would have to face the possibility of future high medical bills due to the breed. Spending alot of money on my pup whenever something unexpected comes up is scary. However, Healthy Paws has saved me time and time again from that and it is honestly the best thing you can ever do for your pet. Whenever I take my puppy to the vet I never worry about how I'm gonna cover the cost because I know that Healthy Paws will reimburse the majority of the bill. Recently my pup got stones and had to undergo a great deal of blood work and a cystotomy surgery but because of Healthy Paws it all ended up being less than a few hundred instead of thousands. Also the speed at which they reimburse me for my claims is amazingly fast. Everyone at Healthy Paws has made the process of keeping my pup at his best much easier than I expected and I truly appreciate them. A word of advice to everyone, the sooner you enroll your pet the better because Healthy Paws not cover per-existing conditions like all pet health insurance companies. Some people do not read before they sign up and blame Healthy Paws when their vet bills are not covered. It is something that is made clear from the start that they don't.

30 Refund Policy Exclusions

I am disappointed in Embrace. After signing up two 6 year old dogs and receiving their medical history review, I realized that one of my dogs has way too many policy exclusions to justify coverage. If you went to your vet to complain about ANYTHING-even if the doc only noted it and didn't diagnose your dog, it's pre-existing. Well, since I am in the 30-day "refund" (haha) period I requested a cancellation and refund for only 1 dog. They said they'd give me only a "prorated" amount of 5 bucks because I am not cancelling the whole policy. This is specified NOWHERE in their 30-day refund details. I've only been with them for 23 days and I already don't trust them.
