what a change
I had worked with another company only to be given the "run around"; tried to get payments from them which were totally justified. No response, just took our monthly fees. Now they are in trouble with the State of Michigan Insurance system for this. The opposite experience with Embrace, recommended by USAA. Courteous, pleasant and pays on time. Great! 4 stars!

Great experience with Embrace
My dog ruptured a ligament in his knee and had to have surgery to correct the conditions. The surgery was done quickly so I didn't have time to consult with Embrace prior to it. My vet submitted the claims and Embrace quickly reviewed and sent me reimbursement checks before the payment was due on my credit card. The offer a great website to check claim status and their customer service was outstanding and prompt.

There When We Needed Them
My family purchased an 8 week old English Mastiff. His name is Mister Bones. How could you not just fall in love with a dog named, "Mister Bones"? Anyway, because my research found these dogs have the potential varies health issues, I purchased a policy. Additionally, I opted to have my vet fill out the additional paperwork so my waiting period, for specific maladies, would be reduced to 2 weeks (I found this only required the vet to perform a more extensive physical exam and didn't appear to be much of a bother to the vet). Literally, thank God we had pet insurance! Being a giant breed dog and understanding how hard puppies love to play, we very quickly began to reap the benefits of the policy. But, the real benefit came when we realized my dog had elbow dysplasia and required surgery, as he had a fractured coronoid process. After the X-rays, CAT scan, surgery, meds, and physical therapy that followed, we were comforted to know that our financial obligation would be severely offset by our policy. If we did not have this policy and were faced with just the surgery related bills, which were in excess of $4700, the decision to perform surgery and to do so at a top rate facility in our area would have required us to rearrange household finances to figure a way to mitigate such a large unexpected expense. The claims process could not have been easier. Each claim took, on average, approximately 5 days from the time I placed my claim until the time the funds were placed in my account. Each time I have called PetsBest, I have been treated with the utmost politeness and professionalism. No question was to difficult and every concern was addressed. While I would agree the rates may be a little higher than some other polices one may obtain, I think it is well worth the ease of mind and quality of service. My only disappointment is the substantial increase in my policy. Although I am told it had nothing to do with my claim history, I can't help but wonder, as I took my policy limits right up to the yearly maximum. With this in mind, we will still pay the premium because if faced with another medical emergency or unexpected illness, we would rather be safe than sorry..., and broke! Because I believe my increase was somewhat high, I have downgraded my overall rating to 9. Had there been a modest increase in my policy, PetsBest would have received a 10. Overall, I am most impressed and satisfied with the service on my policy.

I've had Embrace since I got my rescue dogs almost 6 years ago and I'm so glad I did, because one especially has really needed insurance - two bouts of cancer and almost died from pancreatitis. Embrace is pretty affordable, has reimbursed me for a lot of her care, and they are really friendly and helpful to engage with - good online systems and responsive people when you need them.
