Extremely Long Reimbursement Times

Have had no problems, I've liked dealing with the company, they've covered all problems and been a stress reliever when it comes to getting good care for my pet. However I was just told to expect a 15-20 business day turnaround for a claim to be processed, which is ridiculous. Especially when other large competitors offer direct billing so you are never out of pocket. Would likely not insure another animal under this company for this reason.

Terrific Support

Our Bichon Frise-Poodle Mix dog, Max experienced a tear in his cruciator tendon and Miniscus as well as an out of joint knee cap during a hop up to our couch! We had him diagnosed with x-rays and referred for orthopedic surgery within about a week. ASPCA Pet Insurance handled the claim very rapidly and paid an excellent amount of reimbursement. They showed true concern for Max and for us. I can not thank them enough for their terrific support. After having this kind of coverage from pet insurance, I can not imagine having a pet without it!

Best insurance for emergencies.

I have 2 dogs, both strays. One was a stray from Panama (Chooki) which I brought over with me to Miami and the other we adopted from our local shelter (Louie). From day 1, Louie was sick with pneumonia, kennel cough, and high fever. The day after we picked him up from the shelter we were dropping him off at an overnight animal hospital to run tests and get an IV. We spent almost $2,000 that first night! And at the time, we had insurance with Pet Smart "Bansfield". They only covered preventative costs, such as shots, regular visits, and ear cleanings. Since my pets were really healthy, I didn't see the need to switch the insurance, until that night. While at the hospital, I picked up a brochure for Healthy Paws and the lady at the front desk told me she used that insurance for her 2 pets and it was really good. I switched and actually paid less than what I was paying with Banfield. I paid $25 for each pet a month and downloaded the app on my phone. The insurance had a $200 deductible and covered 80% of medical bills. What I liked about it was that it was completely opposite from Bansfield, in that it didn't cover preventative medical care, but everything else. Which was fine, cause most places have plans where you can pay a 1 time fee of $60 and it covers their shots for life. Plus I don't take them to the vet unless something is wrong, they get their ears cleaned at the groomers. I was worried that if Louie got sick again, we would be out of pocket another couple of thousand dollars. Both dogs are very healthy, but Louie is that kind of dog that is prone to swallowing anything and everything around the house! I once pulled an entire bandanna (from the groomers) out of his butt, he had swallowed it whole! So just 2 weeks ago, he decided to swallow a sock he found in the house somewhere. My husband and I didn't know what was wrong with him, but he was constantly throwing up, had no appetite, and a high fever for 2 days. We took him to the animal hospital, they did an xray, and sure enough found out that he had swallowed a sock and it was stuck in his intestines, not allowing anything to pass through and damaging his organs. They had to go into surgery to remove the sock immediately to avoid causing further damage to his intestines. We were nervous about the surgery and about how much this would cost us, since we had never had to use our insurance before. When the final bill came: diagnosis, surgery, anesthesia, medication, everything totaled to

Simple but extremely wonderful peace of mind......

Trupanion is one of the top rated pet insurers. I haven't had to file a claim (thankfully!)for any thing catastrophic and hope I never do but my vet highly recommended Trupanion. For the price, the coverage, and peace of mind it is a no brainer. My pets are like the rest of my kids in that I'll do whatever needs to be done to take care of them!

If only Human Insurance worked so easily

It is such a simple process: you take a photo of your invoice and upload it via the app. In a few days they let you know how much you will be reimbursed and you receive a check a few days after that. Plus they actually care about animals. After our dog had to undergo an endoscopy they wrote a week or so later to check in on his progress. You'd never get that level of attention from aetna or Blue Shield.

Seems okay so far

We were insured through VPI which is now Nationwide for us. So far the insurance policies seem similar. We live in Silicon Valley and maybe care is more expensive here. The insurance covers a portion of our expenses, but is still helpful to us. When I had VPI, there was an upgrade option for more coverage, which would cost more per month as well. When I spoke with Nationwide this was not available. VPI also had a discount program with PetPlus.com and I'm not sure if Nationwide has that too. It's a great place to buy pet medications. I'll have to ask them about it.

Figo is simple and affordable!

After spending a fortune on my last Dane, I insured my baby Ajax as soon as I got him. Figo beat other pet insurance quotes by almost half. Pretty incredible! My great dane even got a discount for being a rescue. Customer service was superb and was excellent answering all my questions. Figo really makes the whole claims process so simple and paperless. So affordable as well! I really love Figo because is it is one annual deductilbe, not a deductible per condition like all the others. The whole user experience was exceptional! Thank you Figo for insuring my big baby, Ajax!

Excellent customer service with compassion

You people are a piece of work in a really good way. Loved the email you sent us after paying our claim asking if our ayukon was doing better. You are the best customer service we ever had with attention to detail. It is much appreciated. First time we ever bought animal insurance and are so pleased you have made that a positive experience.
