I wasn't convinced that I needed to have insurance because to me it was a gamble and I didn't think I needed it. I decided to go ahead with it since Great Danes can have a lot of health issues. I am so thankful I did because it has helped out many times.

Our dog recently had to have an emergency surgery and the staff at Trupanion were beyond helpful with our situation. Our claim was paid in a timely manner and all expected expenses, as outlined in the contract were covered. Thank You Trupanion for your help!!

Great Insurance with flaws
You, by far have the best insurance going, but you have some serious flaws that when VPI had it were not an issue. I am not happy with you, or way you can "try" to upgrade to a better plan when it becomes available. My dogs are caught in a catch 22 with this issue and it upsets me. Unlike his human parent being able to upgrade their insurance at renewal time, I am stuck with what I got to like it or not.

Trupanion health care insurance for our dog has been fantastic. We submit our claims online and in a few days our claim has been verified and the money goes directly into our bank account! It saved us a lot of grief when our dog needed a splenectomy but otherwise was healthy and has a long life ahead of him.

FYI Part 2
Wasn't sure if I should write this, but this is My truth. I contacted Trupanion. I first have to say the lady was Very Nice, calm, had a lot of patience. I was a little nervous. I don't like to lie, but I couldn't say, "I'm the lady who wrote a review and they told me to contact you", because I felt like everyone had or was going to do that. (I'm a Real sincere person. I wrote the last message and this one from my heart. Not trying to get something for free But really can pay for it. I'm not that type of person. My father is a retired Veteran and would be Very disappointed in me if I lied or deceived anyone.) I asked her did Trupanion give financial help and she stated to go on their website,(I told her I did already) they have deductibles $200/$700. Other then that no. I was a little shocked, but I can image people calling pretending to be me. They Can't help Everyone. So, I felt I had to tell her a liitle of what was happening. She still said, she knew of Nothing!. Like I stated she was kind, however I was Very sad! disappointed. Why did they send the letter to tell me to contact them? Was it just a computer note. You make a complaint you get this message; you write a compliment you get this type of message. Just want everyone who took time to read my review to know what happened afterwards. Thank you!

Happily surprised by the great service!
I was terrified that Trupanion would find a way to deny my claim when my dachshund had a herniated disc and needed surgery right away. The MRI, surgery, and related care was going to be $9,000 (CAD). The company helped with pre-approval on a weekend, after hours. They took all my information over the phone to get a records request ready to ensure that things were ready to go first thing as soon as my regular vet’s office opened. The staff on the phone were AMAZING. They were sympathetic and patient, and clearly walked me through all the steps I would need to take. They sent me follow up emails right away to confirm the details of our conversation and to ensure that there would be someone else on the next shift kept up to date on my case. They paid out my claim and I had the money in my account in 4 business days after I submitted the paperwork. I was blown away. I thought pet insurance was likely some kind of scam, so I was pretty shocked when they gave me NO trouble and processed everything they said they would when I signed up. I couldn’t be happier with this company. I don’t have any kind of relationship with the company - this glowing review is genuine. Thank you for helping to save my dog’s life!
