Consistent Coverage
I have had coverage for my dog since he was 6 months old. Today, he's nearly 15.5 years. We have been going through 4 occurrences of skin cancer. Nationwide has covered the removal of each benign growth at 100% rate. I have been impressed at how thorough Nationwide's coverage is - and how easy they have made the reimbursement process. I would encourage any pet owner to use Nationwide.

Insurance that looks for reasons not to pay out.
Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with Nationwide Pet Insurance. It all started with extremely poor communication - lack of updates to their site when they advertise that you can track your claim's status online, followed by last minute requests for more information AFTER the 30 day processing time was expired, and finally lack of internal communication between departments so customer service is severely limited to how much they can help you. They dragged my request along for 62 days with excuse after excuse and STILL wanted MORE time because "they are just really busy." I am generously giving an overall rating of 3 only because the customer service reps TRIED to help me and a customer care advocate finally got them to complete my request and pay me out at the end of the day - major props to her. Overall, Nationwide is a very big company making a lot of money off of us, the customer, and there is no excuse for not doing better.

Very Slow Claims Process
I submitted a claim for my dog's surgery that was very pricey, and I am still waiting to hear back/get refunded two months later. I had another claim that was just over $200, and this claim was filed and refunded within a timely manner.... But not the $2K claim.... This claim is being dragged on and on with zero notifications. The entire reason that I switched to the wellness program was for situations like this.... and now I am unsure if it was worth it. I have already hit my deductible, and now I am having to wait to receive any refunds.
