Very prompt claim processing and customer service

I submitted a claim for our cat's recent treatment for hypothyroidism, and it was processed very quickly, although the amount paid to me was nominal, after the deductible was factored in ($200 at that time). However, I was advised that the deductible is now fully paid for any further treatments for this same condition, costs of which will then be covered at 80%. The Pets Best customer service representative was very prompt and helpful in responding to a question I had regarding the effective date of new policy provisions which will reduce future deductibles to $100, a very reasonable amount.

My First Claim

Embrace covered my pets entropion surgery when other companies would not. The only negative experience I had--was it took 15days to process my claim and I was expecting a quicker turn around time. Embrace did communicate to me that since it was my FIRST CLAIM it would take up to 15 days to process. I guess all good things come to those who wait. I highly recommend Embrace!!

I AM SO HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY.

I am so pleased with this company. as i sat in the emergency waiting room for my dog to be evaluated at 2:00 in the morning i knew that i would do for my dog whatever she needed. i saw another man holding on to his dog, he could not afford the medical assistance that the dog needed. i am so grateful that i didn't have to make that choice of financial obligation, or not to have the work that was needed for my "other family member". it was a blessing knowing that whatever was needed, i had the insurance to cover it. no games. no gimics. no hidden fee's. no 80% of a fee that no one charges anymore. just a flat fee of $75.00. thanks pets best, for taking care of our needs. and thanks for the friendly people that work for your company. they were so helpful and friendly. and the reimbursement was so fast that i got the money refunded before i even got the credit card bill of the expense. i hope everyone will spread the word so we can care for our animals the way they should be taken care of.

Much better plan

I had VPI and the same experience with no pay or little pay. I have three shelties. I switched to ASPCA. After speaking to their representative for a long time he explained how they figure the charges and it definitely is better done this way than the way the others do it. Getting a check for $10 for a $200 bill is something I didn't like after the cost of the insurance. My oldest also has lyme disease and after one antibiotic treatment which was not enough, VPI turned all the subsequent treatments down and didn't pay anything. Rip off.

Does Not Cover Chronic Conditions

My Puppy was enrolled in ASPCA insurance and ended up having pretty severe allergies. For the first year ASPCA was pretty good about paying on my claims. HOWEVER after renewing my policy (I never missed a day of payments) they told me chronic conditions like allergies are not covered after the first year!!! So if your pet gets diabetes, or glaucoma, or arthritis, or anything which is considered on going SORRY you are out of luck next year they won't pay for it. And then you are stuck because NO other company will pay on pre-existing conditions. Even the ones who say that they will only pay between 100- 200 dollars over the lifetime of the pet. PLEASE STAY AWAY!

100% Recommended

Embrace Pet Insurance contacted us after a terrible experience with VPI. We just had to file a claim and it was all settled in less than a week. They are deeply committed to our dog's health and we recommend them to our friends without reservation.

Great for senior pets

Although I have had a couple of negative experiences with Petshealth, I must say that they seem to be the ONLY pet insurance company willing to insure older pets. They will insure dogs up to 13 years and cats up to 15 years. They will even insure the pet with their top plan, regardless of age, if there are no pre-existing conditions. I have a 13 year-old cat who has never been sick a day in his life. I was able to insure him with Petshealth under their most extensive plan. A few things to watch out for, though. First, unless you get their top plan that covers chronic and/or recurring illnesses, if your pet is diagnosed with some illness and/or injury in one plan period, as soon as the plan period renews, it is considered a pre-existing condition and coverage will stop. This is a bad deal if, say, your pet is diagnosed with cancer a week before your plan renews because in just one week, the coverage for the cancer will stop. That's crappy. Also beware that any congenital and/or hereditary condition is not covered on ANY of their plans. So, that immediately excludes a boatload of illnesses as there are lots and lots of disorders known in hundreds of breeds. But, again, if you need to insure a senior pet, this is probably the only option you really have.

Pets Best is the WORST

I have never had so much trouble submitting a claim and getting payment - not even with our Human health insurance. We submitted a claim for an injury for our 4 month old puppy, and it was denied because they said it was a sickness, not an injury. We went back to our vet, and she said it was indeed an injury, and submitted the claim for us again outlining that it was an injury. The claim was denied again, stating that it must have been a "pre-existing condition" becuase it was filed only about a week after our puppy was covered. We had applied and gotten coverage for our puppy as soon as we got him. We were so glad we had done it so quickly when he hurt his arm, and took him in thinking we would be taken care of by the insurance we were paying for. Now, here we are, 3 months later, $200 in premiums and $250 in vet bills and they are still refusing to cover the claim. We would be better off if we had just budgeted the money we were paying for insurance premiums, and now were out over double that. These people are nothing but a bunch of crooks!

Terrible Claims Department

I canceled coverage with them after only several months. None of the claims I submitted were paid. They used one of two excuses - either the condition was classified as pre-existing (an infection located in an entirely different part of the body from a previous one) or routine care (since when is accupuncture routine???).

The Claims Processing Predicament

I've had this Pet Insurance since March when my new puppy came to me as my forever partner to replace my 12-yr-old SD; I've had several visits to the vet and need to process my puppy's claims; it seems impossible to download claim forms from their web sight, and this is bothersome; in responding to the comment whether claims should be processed if more than 90 days go by, to me they should be processed up to six months following treatment; unless the company has some compelling reason to require the 90-day rule, and I can't think of what it would be--if there is such a rule, there ought to be reasonable exceptions to it--on a case-by-case basis. Incidentally, the Dog Law books should be on our shelves for quick reference when needed!
