Great company, but not flexible

Pet insurance companies engage in the type of health insurance Erin Brokovitch fought against when the only type of health insurance for humans was non-PPO make-a-claim-that-we-then-deny style of insurance. I am very happy to report, however, that I have not experienced this from Embrace. Their staff is very helpful, they stick to their policies and they are prompt with their benefits. Pretty much all of what we received has been according to what their policy says. However, as such, they are not flexible and this is where Embrace shoots themselves in the foot and inconveniences their customers. My Dog Lulu had some masses on her breasts that needed to be removed. The vet, to save money charged us for a Dental Treatment. The reason for this was because in the dental treatment they use the same anesthesia, they clean her teeth and they charge $200 less. So the idea was to charge for a Dental Phraxis (Pyraxis?), clean her teeth and at the same time remove the masses (they were small and near the surface; not a very invasive surgery). However, Embrace would not cover the dental procedure, not even with the wellness allowance that we have. This is legit and its very clear in their policy that they don't do this. This means however that to receive more coverage I should have forgone the dental treatment, thus reducing the amount of care my dog received, submitted a claim to Embrace for a larger amount and paid less out of pocket. In this scenario, I win, everyone else,

Pleased With The Assistance

We have two beautiful female black cats, Sheba and Isis. They are sisters from the same litter who adopted us 11 years ago. Sheba is doing great, she is always perky, always having a very "vocal" opinion on everything. Isis, is not doing so great. She has lost a significant amount of weight, and is not as active as she used to be. The vet took an X-Ray and did an ultrasound, where he has found several large masses in several areas. We know the end is near, but for now, she is being sustained on medications to help keep her comfortable. We (the vet, my wife & I) feel that for now, Isis is eating, and is moving around, can still jump onto the sofa, into our lap, and nuzzle, so we are doing the right thing for now. We are taking it week by week. As for the actual insurance coverage, I have yet to find any vets in my area with prices as low as the "average rates" that ASPCA Pet Care uses to calculate reimbursements. But, on the plus side, every little bit helps

Be upfront with coverage by breed

My premium after less than 1 year went up 202% - my vet costs over the past 4 years have not increased by more than 5%. Trupanion charges difernt premiums for different breeds but no where can I find any other statement other than they will only raise premiums when vet costs go up . . . 202%?????

Reimbursement of claims on time efficiently

Embrace has been very dependable for working out with me on paying special attentions on all emergency situations and reimbursing my med bills very effiently and on time which I very much appreciated and helped to ease off my stress level so that I can attend fully to my pet's needs with peace of mind. Thank you Embrace and all the staff for being so supportive of my situations. As I see my dog Fabio gaining back his robust self again, I know Embrace had played an important role in our healing process. Thank you Embrace for being there with us!

Great Service & Reimbursements

I have dealt with a few pet insurance companies, and Embrace is the best one that I have used. You can customize your coverage. But best of all, they honor the invoice cost and do not try to reimburse you a small percentage of what you have to pay the vet. I would whole heartedly recommend them to anyone.

Corn cobs and Berners don't mix!

Murfy, my 27 month Berner ingested three 1" chunks of corn cob and they had to be surgically removed. He was hospitalized for two days and the final bill came to slightly more than $4000. of which Trupanion covered $3022. (We have $500 deductible.) The vet preauthorized the claim so we were not forced to pay the total amount upfront and then wait for reimbursement. The initial exam and diagnosis took place September 11 and the cheque was in the mail to the vet by Sept 16. In my opinion this was exceptional service and gave me great peace of mind to know Murfy was taken care of no matter what the treatment and cost was not an issue.

My first experience has been great

I joined Healthy Paws about a year ago, based on reviews from this site. We have a 1 1/2 year old mini-Dachshund. He had to go to the vet 3 times over the past several months for different problems. All were resolved, and he's healthy. I processed all three claims at the same time -- my first time submitting a claim. I found the process very good, and their claim response very prompt. Being the first submission, it took some time to gather all the paperwork of my dog's medical history. Fortunately, there were no preexisting conditions on my claim. I've read to many horror stories. Healthy Paws reimbursed me withing a couple of weeks, and at the amount I expected. I couldn't ask for anything else at this point. I may change my tune later if they hike up my rates significantly, but so far so good. I would recommend them for sure.

I would recommend Embrace

This is the second claim we have had to make this year for Fenway - who had 10 kidney stones!!! Embrace was great about communicating where we were in the process; they let me know about delays and that they didn't forget us. They also have direct deposit which made the process much easier as well. What I really liked was after our first claim - someone emailed me a week later to check on Fenway and see how he was feeling!
