I like them!

My poor puppy was diagnosed with heart worms at her 1 year check up. I was so heartbroken. The treatment is brutal and it's several months of it. So with the treatments, medicine, and hospitalization the cost is expensive. I submitted my claims and it was my first time doing it. It took about a week or so for them to process the claim, which in my opinion isn't bad. I already got my check back! My puppy still has a ways to go with her treatment, but I know now that I can count on healthy paws to be there when I need them. Would def recommend to others.

Well Worth It!

we shopped around and heard a great review of Trupanion, so we purchased coverage for our 2 cats, who both have had medical issues in the past but they were still insurable. When we added another kitten, we added coverage for him as well. The premiums came to about $50/month for all three. Our older two cats go outside during the day now and then, and one morning in early May, they'd been out for a short time when one returned with an injury to his back leg, as if he'd been hit by a car. The vet who took x-rays and found our cat had a broken back leg caused by a gunshot wound from a pellet rifle. He had surgery that day, where they put in a pin and a plate to stabilize the bone. He came home the next day with medication and after care instructions (isolation, daily antibiotics, pain meds). a few days later the pin failed so he had another surgery to replace that. He was able to walk around a bit to get to the litter box and food, but no jumping, running, climbing etc. And he needed monthly x-rays, until September when the bone had healed enough to remove. He has healed nicely and is now back to his every day activities. the initial surgery was paid for by Trupanion (less the deductible and co-pay) within a few weeks, and after he received a clean bill of health, we submitted the claims for all the follow up tests, etc, and those were paid accordingly within about 2 weeks of submission. Total vet bill =$3900. Trupanion paid $2600. What a godsend!

Caring like they are their own

Moe, a 9 month old Lab got into a bottle of Gorilla Glue. I immediately called the vet and brought her in. After some xrays they sent us to a surgery center. She ended up having a 7 inch by 4 inch spongy glob removed. The hospital's office took my Healthy Pets claim form with no problem. After getting the final bill I faxed it in to Healthy Paws along with her history. I heard back the next day that they received it and would let us know a decision soon. They covered most of my $2400.00 all but my deductible and $200.00.

A complete Lie and Mostly a FRAUD

We have now been EMBRACE customers for about 180 days--and I must say I find them to have misrepresented the quality of their service and to have little or no regard for their clients or their client's pets--but only in their profits. We started as monthly auto bill specifically to see how they would do--in my view they fail in their claims handling processes--where they threatened not to honor our legitimate claim if the VETS OFFICE--over who we have no control--did not give them a special history within a very short period of 10 days. I find that approach to be EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE of the type of service they have represented--and so we will be discontinuing our coverage and instead putting the monthly amount into a savings account for our pet--where I can make the decisions whether her treatments are justified--not some petty bureaucrat at this lying firm.

Stop shopping-Healthy Pets is the best!

I was shocked to see a negative review of Healthy Paws Pet Insurance on here after being a client with them for the past year and unfortunately submitting claims more than we would have liked to! My father has worked in the Insurance Industry for 40 years and we had pet insurance growing up with another pet insurance company. We never had any issues with the other company, but when comparing plans for our dog Max Healthy Paws had the best coverage, least amount of hassle, etc. My husband is the type that reads and compares everything (to the point that it's annoying) so he ones the one that made the final decision. Most of the claims we submitted were fairly minor at first. It was so nice because when we submitted a claim we would receive an e-mail confirmation that it was received right away and usually the same day an e-mail that our reimbursement had been processed! Since getting our policy we moved twice and I changed my name and the staff was great about getting everything updated. Most recently we moved out of the city and they even notified me right away that our monthly premium would be reduced as well. Whenever I e-mailed or called the staff seemed genuinely concerned about Max. Most recently however, was when I really knew we had made a good choice. After we moving we just switched vets and it unfortunately was not a good experience. Our dog Max got all of his vaccinations in one day and the next day was very ill. They aren't sure if it was an allergic reaction

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I also wish there were no stars as an option because I would never use the company again. I received the original information from them in the mail and thought, " It's the ASPCA, so they must have a great affiliation with them insurance company." I really trusted them and signed all four of my dogs up. After years of simple shots and check-ups the time came last month when my Irish Setter was throwing up and not eating. I took her to my vet and we had to take x-rays and blood tests. I started to send in claims for her and started to notice a pattern. The company uses what they call, "Usual and Customary costs for expenses incurred during the Policy Period." They only paid out about 50%, not 80% of the claims since they said my claims were much higher than others in my area. When I asked what that meant, they said they will only pay on what they think are "reasonable" charges". in other words, they get to decide how much your claim is first, THEN, they pay out 80% of that. This is a scam. When I asked how they figure out what is the "reasonable and customary" at first they told me it was based on an average for my area, then they backtracked when I said there was only one vet in my area. My regular vet wasn't able to figure out my dogs problem and recommended I take her to Southern Cal. Vet. Specialty Hosp. which is the only type of hospital of it's kind in Southern California. This was going to be my test to see if they would pay

The Best!!

We got our Aussie at 8 weeks and immediately signed up with Healthy Paws based on the reviews. I can tell you this is one of the best decisions we have made in going with HP. On numerous occasions, we have taken the pup in for different issues including the ER and every time time, our claim was processed and benefits paid within days. Their customer service is the best and the fact that I was speaking with a caring veterinarian was OUTSTANDING!! I hope we have gotten past the worst with our pup and it's reassuring to know Healthy Paws will be there if needed!
