I recommend ASPCA pet insurance

I purchased ASPCA pet insurance for my 2 cats when they were 11 years of age for a very reasonable amount per month for both of them. About 3-4 months after recieving the coverage one of my cats got very sick the ASPCA reimbursement was very welcome! They have come through for me and the cats time and again. An added note, all of the people I have talked to at the ASPCA have been so very nice, caring and really helpful! And it is nice to know that some of the money goes to help the ASPCA.

watch pre-existing

In my experience *any* pre-existing condition - related or unrelated will result in a policy exclusion. We insured a GSD (dog) that had a slight eye infection that was cured by antibiotics. 4 years later, he goes back in and we're told that his eye does not drain correctly and needs surgery. That surgery claim is denied due to the eye infection when he was a puppy.. Could they be related? I suppose.. but 4 years between? They're obviously going to deny anything that might be related and take no action to sort out cause. They do cover skeletal things - like dysplasia that other insurance carriers do not.

STAY AWAY from ASPCA/Hatrville

My strong recommendation is that you DO NOT purchase ASPCA Pet Insurance (actually operated by Hartville Pet Insurance). They will happlily accept your premiums and then just as happily deny your claims based on "pre-existing condions" using every trick in the book to do so. When they're unable to claim pre-existing conditions, they will minimize the payment based on some ludicrous schedule of payments "in your area" that has no basis in reality. Here are some of my experiences, summarized: 1. Purchased annual policy effective June 2004. This made my annual renewal date June 1st of each year. 2. Paid premiums monthly. Almost all of my claims were nullified by the deductible. When I actually had a service performed by a vet that exceeded the deductible, the insurance adjuster came up with the most ridiculous "reasonable & average" cost for the procedure (which was LESS THAN ONE HALF of what my vet charged (and I checked 4 different vets in my area - all were about the same), and then subtracted my deductable from that. ON A $275 CLAIM, I RECEIVED A CHECK FOR $34. 3. The most outrageous element of their scam occurred when my dog was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2008. The vet scheduled the removal of a malignant tumor for the first week of June. The cost was over $2,400 for the surgery. MY CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE THEY CLAIMED THAT BY JUNE OF 2008 (one week after the policy renewed), THE CANCER WAS A " PRE-EXISTING CONDITION" (i.e. it existed in the prior policy year, which was actually 2 weeks prior). Only the actual filing of a lawsuit by my attorney got this scam shop to pay my claim (and again, only half the actual cost). I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU CONSIDER THESE ISSUES BEFORE PURCHASING A POLICY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Thank Goodness for ASPCA

One day my Bentley started vomiting. He started doing this several times in one week. Hiw bowels were also very soft. You could see he was losing weight and he was moping around, not normal for him. Usually he is very playful. I took him to the Vet and they ran all kinds of tests, which you know are very expensive. With the visit, the tests and the medicine, the charge was over $500. I submitted my claim by faxing in the papers. A few weeks later, I received a check for part of the expenses. What a relief. Seems like everytime I take Bentley to the Vet, the bills are so outrageous.....and I am so happy to be with ASPCA. We insure ourselves, and we must insure our pets. They are part of our family and we love them dearly. We chose the plan that covers neutering, so Bentley is being neutered this Friday and will probably have his teeth cleaned while he is under the sedation. Very comforting knowing that part of this will be covered by the ASPCA insurance. I tell all my friends with pets that we have this insurance and encourage them to look into it for their family pets. Embrace Was Good Until I Tried To Rejoin

Sure, it’s all roses until you cancel your plan and try to rejoin…… I was a satisfied Embrace client, having enrolled my pup with Embrace since the age of 4 months. Happy with the premium cost which was about $50 a month w/a $200 deductible for his breed/NYC. I was shocked one day to receive a waiver that required my signature. Essentially the waiver stated I understood if I signed, Embrace was not chartered in New York state and I would not be able to pursue an unpaid claims in New York state claims courts. Thousands of dollars in bills potentially unrecoverable? Not impossible scenario but very scary so as a concerned pet parent, I didn’t sign and switched firms. Went to Petplan. Am really unhappy with Petplan despite great reviews. Now I want to return to Embrace. Figure my dog is still young, Llyods of London is a reputable underwriter and all should be fine. Until, Embrace quotes me a premium of $89/mnth $1068/yr and informs me they WILL NOT be covering conditions they had previously covered since his coverage beginning at 4 months because my dog would be classified as a brand new customer with no history at Embrace (his medicial records would need to be reviewed as if he were never an Embrace client). Now, all the things that were NOT pre-existing in his policy since he was a pup are now considering pre-existing since I had taken a 3 month break from Embrace even though he had insurance coverage elsewhere with no claims. Really? I am outraged that Embrace is using a tec

Affordable peace of mind

Our Chocolate Labrador Retreiver, Wally, has been covered by ASPCA pet insurance for the past two years. While the insurance doesn't cover the cost of routine vet visits, it has paid for itself already and has given us the peace of mind that we won't be forced to choose between doing the right thing and ending up broke. It makes having a curious playful dog a lot less of a financial roll of the dice.

UNLIKE ALL OTHERS

Our cat had tiny spots of blood in his urine. The hospital kept him overnight and did all sorts of 'rule out' tests. Bad news: $1,000 bill and NO insurance. Good news: every test was normal. Final vet report showed every system normal, no illness or condition found, no re-occurence of blood spots and speculated the cause was likely dietary related (something he swallowed). Shopped for insurance and all but PetFirst insisted on exclusions for various major conditions our cat DID NOT HAVE. All others zeroed in on the $1,000 bill and ignored it was for 'rule out' testing and ignored the fact our cat was found 100% healthy with no known illness or condition. A PETSMART exec read the report and told me IN WRITING (amazing) that so long as our cat was not found to have any illness/disease and was 100% healthy they would not consider him to have any pre-condition. Six months later our first $500 claim for a new illness was paid ASAP. Too bad PetFirst excludes chronic illness. Would be great if they offered such coverage as optional.

Wouldnt go without it

I have insured my shep/samoyed x since she was 12 weeks as 1 year prior my mother in law had to euthanize her 11 month beautiful shep due to severe hip displasia, they could not afford the 12000 surgery. It has been a blessing to me, Hailey is now 12yrs old and has had numerous issues over the past 5 years. Both knees and 3 boughts with hepatitis - still working on the third. Not withstanding testing for spinal issues, mri to test for degenerative mylopothy (negative)on and on it goes right now. But, we are able to do everything we can to find out the proper way to treat her. I tell everyone i now or meet at the vet hospital that i wouldnt go without it. Takes the decision making out of the picture. Securican has alway supported our treatment choices and have never questions our decisions. I have never used any other company so as far as a rating go i have not comparison. I dont now if my rates are higher than others but i have no compaints about service.

Excellent Service

We recently brought a new dog into our family. Neither my wife nor I hae ever owned a dog before. We heard from a variety of people that we needed to get health insurance for our new addition. After doigng some research, we decided to go with Embrace because of their good reviews and reputation. Well, now that I experiecned their helpfulness and efficiency first-hand, I am grateful we made the choice to purchase an Embrace policy. We recently submitted a wellness claim for reimbursement and it was refreshing to realize how easy submission was and how quick we received our reimbursement. Keep up the good work Embrace!
