I'm very pleased with this pet insurance company. They have great rates, they are easy to get in touch with, and they are very fast/efficient at processing claims. I've recommended them to a few friends with pets already.

My vet recommended we check out Trupanion, wish I never did. After paying premiums that were VERY expensive compared to others out there, they DENIED my claim after weeks of going back and forth saying they needed more paperwork, that they never got the records my vet sent even though they sent it THREE TIMES. The customer service agents I spoke to were rude and not very knowledgeable or helpful. Everyone I spoke with told me something else. They were looking for reasons to not may my claim, just because my baby had a reaction to some food we tried last year, now they won't pay anything because he just has allergies according to them! Waste of money!

Whenever I send in a claim, Trupanion quickly processes it. When they have questions they give me a call and the service representative is friendly and professional. I would recommend them to any animal friend.

Even thou you receive an email stating "Thank you for renewing your pet insurance policy number xxx and for being a policyholder since xxx" and withing the same email "Your renewal policy is effective on xxx through xxx/2015 11:59 PM ET". Mean your NOT really renewed at all !!! They sort of put the cart before the horse in emails it seems for reason I still can not explain.

Three years ago, we adopted our little pit bull mix Birdie. She was the eighth dog we had fostered that year and was sweet and small and ran away with our hearts, so we decided to make her a permanent part of our family. Almost immediately after we signed the adoption papers we discovered that Birdie had a serious, life threatening liver problem which we then spent several weeks and several thousand dollars treating her for, finally bringing her back to perfect health. After that serious and costly illness, we decided to listen to some of our wiser friends and our veterinarian who had all been suggesting we look into pet insurance. After checking out several companies and comparing rates, coverage, and reviews, we enrolled Birdie in a Healthy Paws Pet Insurance plan, and boy are we glad we did. A year or so after getting her policy, Birdie ran across the yard in pursuit of a squirrel and came back limping badly, her right leg dangling loosely above the ground. X-rays and examinations showed that she had torn a major stabilizing ligament in her right knee and required an extreme repair--TPLO surgery. The surgery cost a stunning $2,600, was very successful, and better yet--Healthy Paws covered 90% of the costs after our deductible, so we received compensation in the range of $2200! Wow! Our girl has been under treatment for melanoma. Her surgery, biopsies, and lab work - all reimbursed within 3 days. She's now being treated with the melanoma vaccine gene therapy for the cancer; Embrace processed the claim and reimbursed us within 3 days. Getting the reimbursement direct deposit has been a great help to us, as well as the fact that they reimburse on a percentage of actual charges instead of a "reasonable and customary" fee schedule, like almost every human insurance company does nowadays... We've been insured with Embrace since 2009 and recommend them highly to anyone looking for health coverage for their furchildren.

When our Bernese Mountain Dog, India, was nine months old she was diagnosed with elbow displaysia. Although we understand dogs of her breed often suffer from hip dysplasia later in life, we were completely surprised by the elbow diagnosis, which can be more difficult to treat. Response time was reasonable and we were satisfied with the result. The covered portion was applied to the deductible as we expected.
