Too many "riders" to add

We've had pet insurance on our dog for 3 years with PetFirst. She developed a problem last year, and even though she was covered, they refused to cover it when it crept back up this year because it is only covered "during the policy year" and then is considered "pre-existing" for the life of the dog, which means it is NOT covered. EVER. I am just finding this out today, even though I called earlier this year to make sure her surgery would be covered (they said yes, even though they now are telling me no). Now I have to add an expensive rider to cover anything that might come up "chronic" -- for instance, should she come up hypothyroid this year, they will only cover it "this year" -- not next year, or 5 years from now. Would've been nice if they had explained all their legal jargon before we bought the policy. Also, they are pretty quick getting our reimbursements back to us, but there's is too much red tape to get things approved. Customer service is severely lacking. I was transferred to 5 different people today only to find out the first person that answered could've helped me even though he said he couldn't. I'd recommend looking around. I plan to do just that.

Incredible Coverage

Embrace is the first pet insurance I've purchased. I looked into many pet insurance companies and thought Embrace was by far the best coverage for the least amount of cost. My husband and I purchased two puppies from a very poor breader, which we learned very quickly. My girl, Willow, had to have surgery on both her knees after just a few months of joining our family (each knee surgery cost between $3,700 - $4,700). She had one knee repaired and Embrace paid the entire invoice after our $500 deductible. About two months later she had her other knee repaired and Embrace paid the entire amount; nothing out of pocket for us. When our renewal came around, I thought the premium would go up but it actually went down. Amazing pet coverage at an amazing price. Now my boy, Dutch, is experiencing the same issue and will need surgery on his right knee; thank goodness I purchased Embrace because I know I'm covered. Try Embrace, there are many options to choose from, and I know anyone who has this coverage will be very pleased. Thank you Embrace.

I Trust No Other

I have been with Petshealth for over 4 years years now. I have found them to be exceptional at handling my claims. My most recent experiences involved find two lumps on my 5 year old dog. I encountered no issues with having my dog examined and biopsied and when it was determined they should be removed-Petshealth was there with no questions asked and covered her surgery. It has been a similar experience for her most recent bronchial allergy. I have the middle tiered planned with added long-term/chronic coverage. The additional coverage for long-term/chronic was only an increase of $7/month, which I view as a small price to pay for a valued and loved member of the family. From my experiences so far, I would have to say that I honestly trust no other pet insurance and I highly recommend Petshealth.

Embrace Reversed Their Decision

This is my first experience with Embrace. They initially denied my pet's claim ( She had been stung by a bee and Embrace catorigized this as a dermitiloligal issue )and after having them look back into her history and re-contacting our vet Embrace reversed their decision to cover the bee sting. They kept us well informed during the re-evaluation process always contacting us via e-mail to keep us in the loop.

not happy pet owner

I first decided this time on trying trupanion insurance for my newfoundland that was about 10 week old and now he is 2 yrs old. i have never made a claim. i know they have raise the price 40.00 more. they say the never raise the price due to age, the raise it because Advancements in veterinary medicine continue to improve the quality and lengthen the life of our pets. so i will be canceling my membership..

Thank Goodness for Embrase!

Our Yellow Lab Abby (age 6), has been dealing with chronic anal gland issues for about 18 months now, and thank goodness Embrace is there. We do a lot of traveling, and Abby enjoys coming along with us as well (after all... she is part of the family). Since we never know what could happen along the way, we wanted to make sure that we had some insurance coverage for Abby as well (just for those "Emergency" situations). We are planning a big trip for next year, and want to make sure that Abby is physically ready for that trip as well. We had to return home early on our last outing, as Abby's anal glands became infected once again, and we had to make a trip to an emergency vet on a Sunday. Embrace made that experience a lot easier to take, as we knew that they had Abby's best interest in mind as well. Thankfully, all the emergency vet bills were handled in a timely manner, and we received a reimbursement check within the same month of the Emergency Vet service. Thank you!

Worth every penny and Caring Staff

Our 6 month old puppy had to have a respiratory/airway surgery prior to being neutered. Embrace was so easy to work with. We were able to have enough time before surgery to obtain a pre-authorization and the claim process was seamless. Embrace takes care of contacting the vet to obtain records, one less thing for the doggy parent to take care of. The reimbursement rate is great! The staff is wonderful both on the phone and via email. They truly care about your pet as well as processing the claim quickly and effiently. Worth every penny...especially for such a special breed as a bulldog!

I am so happy to have my 3 dogs covered by PetFirst

I have been with PetFirst insurance for 4 years. I have 3 dogs and this is so worth the money and piece of mind the when I go to the vet I know that I can afford to have the treatment for what ever comes up. The company has awesome people working there to help with any questions you might have.

Does not meet expectations

I am going into my 2nd year with an ASPCA policy after switching from another carrier. This is the first year that I have accessed the policy for anything beyond routine exams and I have to say that I am disappointed. The policy and website indicate that the company reimburses claims based on the actual bill as opposed to set fees. However, the company uses "customary fees that are set geographically" which truly amounts to set fees that are based on where you live and have nothing to do with your actual bill. They then pay 80% of their "customary fee" which further minimizes the customer's reimbursment. In addition to receiving a reimbursment that was pennies on the dollar, the premiums for my plan increased by about 20% without notice! Needless to say, we are looking for new pet insurance.
