Do not renew if you have an older dog

If you have an older dog, it is very likely to have what ASPCA calls a "recurring" condition. They will not cover it in subsequent plan periods. So if it is arthritis, liver problem, or cancer - you are left high and dry for ongoing treatment.

Fast. Friendly. Fantastic!

I had to rush my 15 month old Wemaraner to the emergency room as he was very ill. This happened at a time when I was going through a period of personal and professional transition and was already incredibly stressed and financially limited. It was a great piece of mind to know that I could spare no expense in making sure my little guy got the best treatment available and that the financial hit would be softened. When it came time to actually file the claim, the Healthy Paws team was amazing and made the process so painless! Their correspondence was very genuine and caring! My claim was processes and I was reimbursed within a week! I can't say enough good things about Healthy Paws! They're the best!

Stay away from ASPCA Insurance.

Beware! They will tell you anything you want to hear to sign you up. They will lie about their continuing coverage, about what is covered, & it will take months for them to get back to you. This place has ripped me off for the past year with their continuing coverage fee. Go look somewhere else & save yourself the headaches.

Wonderful Experience

My French Bulldog needed to have her elongated soft palette clipped urgently. Every single person I encountered at Healthy Pet was warm, helpful, compassionate and professional throughout the entire process. They were available and responsive, documents were processed quickly and with zero problems. A representative even contacted me after the claim was processed to see how Daisy was doing. I wish my insurance company was this attentive!

Entirely Pleased with Trupanion!

I adopted a Maltese/Havanese puppy from a rescue group last April. I took him to the vet for an initial visit and was offered a free trial of Trupanion coverage which I accepted. When the trial period was up, I continued the coverage since I wanted to be sure that I could afford whatever care my new companion might need. I am so glad that I did! He has had five claims in a year's time, and every one of them was handled beautifully by Trupanion. For this year, the refunds we have gotten on our claims have significantly exceeded the premiums that I have paid. Mostly recently, my dog had one trip to the emergency vet and two additional hospitalizations at our regular vet for constipation and complications of this (colitis)--he was miserably sick. I had essentially three claims related to the same problem. The bills were just over $500. The very next week after I filed the paperwork, I received checks totaling nearly $360. This really helps! I am so glad that I decided to keep the coverage for my dog. I don't ever want to be in the position of not being able to afford the care he needs, and having his Trupanion policy gives me peace of mind that I can provide whatever medical care my little buddy needs.

Super pleased with Healthy Paws!

When we were planning on getting a new puppy, I researched pet insurances immediately. I figured after all the possible trouble that a puppy can get in to, I wanted to have the insurance just in case.....unfortuneately we needed to file our first claim about a month ago. Our girl, Landry, was working on a bone and a piece broke off. She swallowed the piece lightening quick and I could not retrieve it. Less than 24 hrs later, she was vomiting repeatedly and very lethargic. She then went to our regular vet, x-rays, medicines, a two night stay over at the vet, bland diet, and still would retch and vomit out of the blue. By the way, the bone was never found in x-rays, even though we saw her consume it and no one saw it come out anywhere!!! She then had an endoscopy at another vet and was on medicine and prescription food for over a month. That's when we filed the first claims to Healthy Paws. They were so professional from the start. I actually spoke to an owner with my first phone call in reseaching them! They followed up with emails when any paperwork was submitted and after a few weeks, the checks were in the mail! Their customer service dept. continued to follow up with an email, expressing their well wishes and asking for a picture too! I tell everyone to get this insurance! They do what they claim and you won't be disappointed if you ever have to use it! Hopefully it won't be too frequent! P.S. No more bones for Landry! EVER! Tough lesson learned. Than

Highly Recommended!

I have had this insurance for almost two years now and I have nothing bad to say. I love the great customer service and the personal emails (even if they are computer generated). The claim did take a but longer to process this time compared to previous ones. My only disappointment would be that I was unaware that I didn't have prescription coverage...my fault for not remembering. I was under the impression it was covered as part of her accident and illness coverage.

Bad company

My dog got a ear hematoma. I called a mobile Vet to come see her.She is older and I wanted to be with her during the surgery. I am a ex vet tech. My other dog pass away from being sick and have surgery when he was older and ear hematoma is minor surgery. She is doing great. She wears her e-color and its draining and I wash it every day. She is almost out of her Chewable AB's. I really like this Vet and want to use him again. But Pet's Best is keep calling him, want more info? He's going to do a re check and I will have to submit another claim for it. I feel like these pet ins Co. are a rip off. This is the first time I've use these ins since I've had it in like 5 yrs. I will change this report if they pay. But it seem like they are trying to get out of paying. Update: got a email last night they are bugging the Vet for "more info". :( Update: Now they want the Vet files from when I enrolled her in 2009! The got the Vet so pissed he hung up on them! They are most likely looking for a pre-existing condition like "She has ears...sooooooooo...." I would switch if I could, but she is 10 yrs old. When your looking for Pet ins I would skip Pets Best. I asked the Vet which one and he said he hears good things about VPI. Still waiting. Now the guy says re-exsiting condition, like she "has ears"!!! Unfrickin' believable. As I recall when i signed up that if the dog hadn't been in for this condition in 6 mos it is not a "pre-exsisting" condition. But having ears is! I
