Hidden fees; Per issue deductible not worth it.

We received a first month free of Trupanion from the rescue we adopted from, after the month was over we were charged a number of hidden fees we did not agree to when originally signing up. The monthly fee was significantly more than we could afford or agreed to; and significantly more than competitors! The $250 deductible is also less helpful than advertised; we have yet to hit the deductible for any of the 3 issues our dog has had, yet we have spent over $600 in vet bills.

Unreasonable rate increases that go increase insanely high as your pet ages in comparison to similarly rated plans.

Fast and caring service

I adopted a 2 year old rescue (of unknown history, but overall a very healthy dog) and at first wasn't sure if insurance was worth it - as most insurance doesn't cover general preventative vet visits. But suddenly my dog got very ill, and I had no worries about the financial implications of taking him to the hospital. The claims process was simple (upload a photo of the bill online) and within 2 weeks, I received not only an explanation of what was covered vs not (most was covered) but also received the benefit payment as well.

This is the best, most outstanding insurance for a pet that I've ever seen or heard of.

I have had this insurance for at least 7 or 8 years and it is the best product in my opinion regarding animal insurance. Having this insurance literally saved my dog's life within the last 2-3 months. I would encourage anyone who is interested in having medical insurance for their pet or pets to use this company. I wouldn't be without it.

We are so grateful for Trupanion! Trupanion has been our lifeline for Stella! Stella is alive because of Trupanion! ❤️

We can’t express how thankful we are for Trupanion. We think Stella should be the spokesperson (if dogs could talk) for Trupanion! Stella has had 3 emergency surgeries and is now being treated for cancer. Trupanion has been there every step of the way, supporting us through some challenging times. Trupanion has saved our four legged baby so many times now. We would have been in a very difficult spot without Trupanion. I would be happy to talk to anyone that has questions or doubts about how wonderful Trupanion is! The only insurance company that I have been so appreciative of! So thankful!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Fast and caring service

If you're not sure whether it's worth getting pet insurance: it IS. While most insurance options I explored don't cover general preventative and routine vet visits, when my fur-baby Barkley suddenly wasn't eating for days and having severe GI issues, I did not worry about the cost of having to take him to the hospital. After extensive tests and a couple of nights in the hospital, he has bounced back. And so did my wallet - the claims process is really easy - all online, and I received my benefits direct-deposited in less than 2 weeks. Better still, their customer service reached out to me to see how Barkley is doing.

New Policy

ASPCA now covers but my senior cat and new kitten. It was not easy to find a policy to cover both of them but...FYI preventative coverage is in force immediately while illness and accidents have a 14 day waiting period. Just in case you don't get the email (as I didn't) to let you know that the policy is in force. They were super helpful once I was able to get through on the phone. The coverage appears to be very comprehensive.

I would definitely look for other insurance company!

I would definitely look for other companies than this one. I took my dog to been seen for a swollen eye, she was treated for infection 2 different times. Then she continued to have trouble and was diagnosed with Entropion that requires surgery. The policy states you pay 20% for surgery and they pay the 80%. That is false, they only pay up to your per pet incident which my per incident was $500. Her surgery was $1800 they paid 120.22 because they said that they had already paid out $377.78 when she was treated for the swollen eye. So don't fall for the surgery being covered. They are very deceiving and I would stay away! This is what is in the contract: What is Covered After satisfying the annual Deductible indicated on the Declarations Page, We will reimburse You in accordance with Your plan, less any limitations and exclusions, the amount after Coinsurance for eligible Covered Expenses that are Medically Necessary to treat or diagnose a current covered Incident showing Symptoms during the Policy period but after the Waiting Period, including but not limited to: a. Laboratory tests, x-rays, ultrasound, MRI and CT scans; b. Surgery; c. Hospitalization d. Prescription Medication that is prescribed by a Veterinarian; e. Extractions to permanent broken teeth due to an Accident; f. Chemotherapy; g. Hydrotherapy and Physical Therapy; h. Emergency ground Pet Ambulance transportation up to the maximum benefit for this coverage as specified on the Declarations Page; and i. Euthanasia (when advised by a Veterinarian to alleviate suffering). Regardless of the number of claims made during the period of insurance,
