I was quite late filing a claim for one of my dogs, who I lost to cancer. Thanks to Trupanion I was able to get him radiation treatment, which gave me almost another year of good quality life with him. I was grieving, then I moved, then I moved again, and lost the paperwork along the way. I had given up on finishing this claim, when I finally ran across the paperwork again and submitted it. Trupanion came through, and paid for the applicable portions in less than 10 days. Please insure your dogs.You just never know when you will have a health condition or an accident arise that you just can’t afford to pay out-of-pocket without reimbursement. A Trupanion policy gives you options you might not otherwise have. I still treasure those last months with him.

Very unhappy with customer service
I have had pet insurance for 25 years. I changed to Pets Best 2 years ago and luckily have not had any major illnesses with my 3 pets. However, I have had some dealings with it well after the 6 month waiting period and I have to say their customer service is not good at all. This last issue I had I dealt with 2 nice representatives that could not help me. When I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager I was told I could not, that they did and the answer was what was conveyed to me. I have been a manager of a big department for 35 years and NEVER would I not talk to a dissatisfied customer. Unfortunately with the age of my dogs I cannot change at this point.

I would give them a zero if I could. Beware, if your dog gets sick in January and your plan renews in Feb. that illness is considered a pre-existing condition and will not be covered at all. They did not cover a hip problem that was considered an issue with the breed, so no they didn't cover my dogs hip surgery 10 years ago. Now in the last year of my dogs life the insurance is useless. Mind you I have been paying for years, even as the premiums doubled. I thought I was buying security if and when he got ill. I was wrong.

Mia's emergency surgery
Mia, our golden, needed emergency surgery and thank goodness she is ok. Not even a half hour later I received an email from Trupanion saying they have my back....what a relief. They are the best company to help when you need someone and they are all so wonderful. We used them for our last golden as well and we were never disappointed with the service. Thank you so much, Trupanion! You are our savior.

Terrible
Terrible. Customer service - You wait for hours and hours on the phone, just to get a very bad cusomer support They are doing their best not to pay for your pet treatment when you need them. after paying them over a 100$ a month, for two cats, they claimed that my pet has a pre-existing condition. No matter that I appealed, with a letter from my vet (!) saying my cat is 100% healthy, no issues, whatsoever! they still claimed they will not cover, just to make sure they don't have to pay in the future. I suggest you never ever get close to ASPCA pet insurance, it's as bad as a scam!!

A terrible experience
A terrible experience They have terrible customer support, you can wait for hours and hours on the phone! there's no other way to contact them, and above all, they do their best to not cover your pets, trying to find excuses or lines in the medical history in order to avoid payment. after months of paying premiums, this is feel like a scam! I recommend not to even think about getting their pet insurance.

because of Trupanion --and my vet ..Raven and I are growing old together.
For the last few years as my dog and only companion has aged she has more and more to deal with. Because of the fact that I don't for a second hesitate on a necessary treatment --as long as she has quality of life and not in pain-- we are able to endure all of this isolation from the virus together. It means a lot to have her with me, walking, eating, all the things that her meds and treatment allow her to do and be. I am not saying that without the insurance I would not still provide whatever she needs.. it is just that my life would have to be radically different in order to afford it. Thank you.

Trupanion is so easy to work with and the customer service team is so compassionate. Coverage was great and I had the luxury to focus on getting her the best care verses money. Even after the event which she ended up not making it, the Trupanion Team was so supportive.
