Good

Premiums more than doubled for same plan

I have been with this company for over 9 years with my pets and had been very happy. That was until the past six months. For the first time we had problems with them paying claims, and then all of a sudden our plan premium more than doubled for each pet. And yes when I tried changing the policy to make it more affordable, I was told it would cause previous issues to become pre-existing! I can understand small increases, but more than double. I was paying about $100 for my two goldens per month with top of the line plans, now it is almost $250. Sorry but I am looking for s new carrier.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

They will take your money month after month and when your pet gets sick, they won't cover any of it. Paid 650$ for a vet visit (my dog had a cough) and got 0$ back because of some bogus loophole policy. Very upsetting. I'm switching to Trupanion as I've heard MUCH better things from their clients.

24 PET WATCH ALMOST TRIPLED MONTHLY FEES

Pet Insurance Experience: We usually don't post anything that is semi personal but my experience with my Great Danes Pet insurance today is more informative than anything of what I experienced. Bruce the Great Dane was born in 2012. I was responsible and researched different policies and plans before he even became part of our family. I knew having a giant breed would be costly and I wanted to be prepared for the bigger vet bills. At 10 weeks he became part of our family and that was his first day covered with Purina Care Pet Insurance. The plan was $44.90 per month and was supposed to stay that rate for his life since I got it for him so young. It paid 60% of his vet care including his well checks and vaccines. There was a $250 deductible a year. When Bruce was a year old Purina Care sold the Insurance Company to 24 Petwatch. This was also around the same time Bruce had his surgery to be neutered and his stomach tacked. 24 PetWatch immediately raised my monthly fees to $68 a month when they took over all Purina policies. I was told my rates would always be $44.90 a month but I didn't complain because Bruce had a very bad experience with his neutering and I was submitting a very large vet bill to them. So for the last 4 years I have paid $68 a month and other than that first year of his life he has been very healthy. He only goes for his shots and wellness visits. That means that I get reimbursed around $600 a year for vaccines, heartworm/tick medicine from his Insurance. Today I open up a letter from 24 Petwatch stating that they are using another underwriter and that they reviewed all policies for rate adjustments. Bruce's new rate as of 6/5/17 will be raised to $163.18 a month from $68 for the exact same Insurance he has always had for the last 5 years. I thought it was a misprint so I called 24 Petwatch. They stated that it is correct and they had to raise policies so they can still offer the coverage to customers. I spoke to the supervisor as well and that is the new cost period. Bruce has a preexisting condition that we found out when he was neutered at 1yr old so there is not a possibility of ever switching companies because he won't be covered. For all the years I have preached about how well Pet Insurance had worked for Bruce and that I will always have it for my dogs etc. Now I can't say I truly believe that any longer. Bruce will not have insurance as of 6/5/17 for the first time since I have brought him into my family.

Truly Impressed!

I switched to Embrace after 12 frustrating years with another company. About 4 months after enrolling I wound up needing to file claims for all 3 of my animals in the same month. After a few hiccups with the way my vet submitted the claims everything was covered. Each time I called Embracers were pleasant and very helpful. I was also very impressed with the speed of reimbursement.

Great service

I have three dogs with Embrace, all are registered therapy dogs and two are service dogs. So far, our claims are mostly wellness and I love the fact that I can budget for their health care and preventative care as with three it adds up quickly. Just this year I moved my last dog from another company when Embrace added coverage for old dogs. Hopefully we'll never have to use the accident or illness coverage--but it is worth the money to me to have that kind of peace of mind. We travel a great deal and may have to use a different vet--with different fees, using Embrace makes that easy!

Quick claim service

I recently submitted a claim for a newly adopted dog. I mistakenly used a claim from from another of my pets. The claim was denied. I didn't realize the mistake and called Embrace to find out what happened. While I was on the phone, the problem was investigated and corrected. They stand out as an example of how pet insurance should work!
