Affordable and covers 90% of your claim
I got Healthy Paws insurance for my 2 pups right when we adopted them and have had it for over 3 years. It is affordable and worth it especially when something unexpected happens. Mu dog tore both ACL’s and both times Healthy Paws covered it 90% with an affordable deductible. Highly recommend them.

Above and beyond
We rescued our pup, Maggie, 20 months ago and we bought pet insurance with Healthy Paws after doing much research. The rates and insurance plan choices were good as were the reviews and ratings. We have been so happy with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. They have stayed consistent with the insurance plan as stated and have reimbursed us quickly and always correctly. Maggie has unfortunately had a series of digestive issues and not only have they paid all the costs but we also received a sincere email checking to see how she was. We've have been pleased and impressed with every aspect of our relationship with Healthy Paws.

Scam
After many years of pet ownership and numerous costly veterinary expenses we decided last year upon adopting two rescue dogs to give pet insurance a try. One of the dogs came with a 30 day coverage period with Petsecure as part of the adoption agreement. I did call another company for a quote but in the end enrolled both dogs with Petsecure, both under the top of the line coverage, Secure 4 plan. What an absolute joke. Over the last year I have found out that this company’s favourite tactic is simply to deny everything you call about. Expenses incurred for behavioural issues. Denied. Expenses incurred for veterinary chiropractic services. Denied. Purchased medication (K9 Advantix II) from Petsmart. Denied. In the 13 months that we’ve had the policy we have paid Petsecure nearly $3800. I feel completely foolish for having fallen for such a fraudulent rip off. An expensive lesson for sure, but I will never think about buying pet insurance again. Obviously the wise and prudent thing to do is to take the monthly premium amount (ours is now over $310) and put it aside in a TFSA for use in veterinary emergencies. I strongly recommend to other pet owners considering getting pet insurance to think very carefully first and to remember these people do not have your best interests in mind or the best interest and welfare of your beloved pets. Their only interest is in making money for themselves.

Rip Off
No response to phone calls, only put on hold, never speak to a live person. Slow response to emails. Seem to only respond when threaten to cancel, then false promises. Fail to process claims with wait time of more than six weeks and still not processed. Do not recommend this pet insurance. Personal healthcare claims are processed in less time.

Beth was wonderful.
Beth was wonderful. Extremely helpful, caring, kind, and she answered all of my questions (which were likely very annoying as she probably hears the same ones incessantly). She seemed to be a very good person, which is not an adjective I would ordinarily use about an insurance agent (no offense). Thank you, Beth. Thank you, Trupanion. (By the by, I'm so sorry your company name is so similar to that other name; thankfully, you seem, with the exception of your preexisting conditions policy for pets—sadly, there's no ACA for them—antithetical to pretty much all of the policies/beliefs that the other name espouses).

I know you need to make money to give the incredible coverage but doing the math I’d pay almost $900/year for deductible and monthly fees along with the one time fee.
I know you need to make money to give the incredible coverage but doing the math I’d pay almost $900/year for deductible and monthly fees along with the one time fee. With a puppy that had every test done and parents tested for eyes, heart, brain, hips and DNA with guarantees in contract from breeder I’d be better off putting $50/month in a savings account. I am proactive in my care for my dogs. You don’t cover office visits, or even specialists office visits. I’d just rather put money into my account. If I need it it’s there. If I don’t I’ve saved $900+/yr.

Healthy Paws is efficient, simple usage and prompt with responses.
We have owned 9 dogs in our lifetime and never had pet insurance. In the past, 2 of our dogs became very ill with diabetes and blindness which became very costly. So as we grew wiser in our older years we decided to insure our 2 new pups. Unfortunately one of our dogs developed bladder stones and needed surgery. Healthy Paws did everything that it professes to do and the most important is paid 80% of the surgical bill. We were totally satisfied 😌
