Nice but pricey
I believe in having insurance for your dog but I struggle with the cost.

I have had pretty much only positive experiences with Trupanion though I have no other pet insurance experience so I didn't feel a 9/10 rating was completely accurate.

Process is ok--if your expense counts
The claim process itself was okay, but there is so much that the policy doesn't cover for this cat due to getting the insurance offer after his diabetes diagnosis that I'm always wondering if I should keep it given the price.

You can't go without Trupanion!!!
Very fast on reviewing claims and letting you know if it was covered. I've had Trupanion since my Abby was just a pup (8 weeks old). She has had a few medical issues and I like they are covered at my % for my policy. When my daughter got a lab puppy, I told her you better get Trupanion, "It's the Best"!!! She did and is so thankful!!

Bait and switch at it's finest.
Buyer Beware!!! We got a service dog and thought that it would be helpful to get insurance for him since he does so much for me. We also got the wellness policy for him. We knew he was allergic to chicken, but soon found out that turkey was much worse when we had to pay $1,500 for an emergency vet. When we filed the claim, they paid very little of it because when he was a puppy he had worms from the breeder. They said that because he had diarrhea from the worms then it was too soon to pay a claim for his diarrhea for his allergic reaction to the turkey, even though it was a totally unrelated issue. We've had so many issues with them not paying our claims, and kicking back our wellness claims (even though they said we could buy vitamins at a pet store) because the vet needed to add more notes to their already clearly written receipt. We never received a discount for multiple pets since we added our second dog as soon as we got her a few months after my first service dog. We cancelled our policy after four years because they constantly increased the rates each year by a significant amount despite never paying a claim, and the dogs are now only four years old. They will live to be about 10-15 years old since they are Doberman Pinchers. We just got an email stating that they "inadvertently" charged us for another month of coverage even though we cancelled, along with 67 other people who also cancelled that month. They can't even keep their records straight after we dump them!

When you love your pet it is a logical decision to have insurance.
When you love your pet it is a logical decision to have insurance. I never want to find myself in a position to not be able to afford to save my dog.
