Easy to use sign up, but disappointed in the 30 day waiting period.
Because I would expect that once I start paying my deductible that insurance would be available immediately, especially when there is a deductible. I also understand why there would be a waiting period, so that people don't just sign up and then stop the next month, but I feel as though that you could do a cancellation fee on the back end instead of a waiting period on the front end. That would make more sense and would probably get more people to sign up.

Claims process is easy! However my premium went up from $80 to over $100 a month w/ no explanation. You think Trupanion would pay out more on vet visits w/ the higher monthly payment?

Difficult Time Made Easier by Trupanion
It was unbelievably simple to file my first claim with Trupanion. The reimbursement for money paid to my Vet was very prompt. I also very much appreciated the little note hoping that my cat (mentioning him by name) is doing well…a very nice personal touch! Thank you for making this very worrisome time a little easier.

Pros and Cons
I like that it’s processed directly through my vet so I don’t have to wait for a refund… I don’t like that I’m fully responsible for taxes on the whole bill …. I like that my dog’s knee surgery was covered and should it happen to the other knee it’s also covered ( some places only cover the cost for one knee) unfortunately my dog was diagnosed with allergies prior to getting insurance so it’s not covered, I get that, but right after I get an general email from Trupanion saying how to look after your pup in the summer and ear infections are popular because of swimming my dog got an ear infection, from swimming (her ears didn’t dry properly) yet Trupanion said it was allergies and wouldn’t cover it :(

Great agent, high premiums.
The agent was fantastic, but I am not happy with the rates. I expected them to be lower but was told in no uncertain terms that the issue was the type of dog (a labrador retriever) that has joined our family.
