Always a catch

I’ve had this insurance for one of my dogs for years. They don’t pay for exams yet their premiums are no different than other insurance companies. They refused to pay a claim stating it was wellness that I submitted as there was a possibility of parasites again. I filed an appeal and they still refused. I’m just not sure pet insurance is worth it anymore. They always find a way to deny claims. I would not recommend this company.

We’re sorry for any confusion with your claim. Your claim was denied under the wellness exclusion. Since the invoice only noted a parasite exam without any medication, without clarification it appeared to be wellness related. A member of our Customer Care Team replied to your email on 7/10 noting that if you would like to have the claim reviewed, we would need medical records from that visit. We never received a response, nor were records submitted. As such an appeal case was not started. We are happy to take a second look at this claim for you if you simply provide either the date of service examination notes for the test or a letter of clarification from your veterinarian. The examination fee is a plan exclusion and as such is not eligible for coverage. We strive to be completely transparent about this exclusion and our entire policy. Information about this is available prior to and after enrollment via the Frequently Asked Questions on our website and in our online sample policy.

So glad I purchased this insurance.

2 years ago I purchased Embrace insurance, I was not happy with them. After joining a Facebook pet insurance group, I read up on peoples posts and replies. I saw a few insurance policies that looked interesting to me, I called several of them and ultimately chose Met life Pet. My coverage includes wellness, illness, and accident, it was 250.00 deductible and 0 dollars out of pocket once I met the 250.00 deductible. My coverage was 5k per cat ( I have 2) total of 10K. One of my cats developed colitis, and the monthly prescription is 100% covered because it was not a per-existing condition. My experience with submitting claims has been seamless when using the phone app. I am able to send claims on the computer as well. Customer service has been fantastic by phone and email. It is best to call for the best policy quote, CS reps are very knowledgeable when speaking by phone. I have heard that the coverage available have changed, but it is still a good deal. I am very happy with the insurance!!

M.Riley

I have a 6 year old female Australian Shepherd who became violently ill with non stop vomiting. Brought her to an animal emergency vet, $600 later brought her home - still vomiting. Took her to another animal hospital- she was admitted for two nights for observation and dehydration; desperately in need of IV fluids. Total bill - $ 2000. So relieved to be able to make a claim on the pet insurance. I had a $100 deductible and was covered 80%. It relieved the financial burden and I was able to focus on her recovery.

Pet Insurance is saving my dog from a painful life

My previous dog had cancer. I didn’t have insurance and had heard that it wasn’t worth the money. I spent all of my savings on chemo for him. When I got my new dog I was afraid she would get cancer one day and I would not be in a financial position to pay for it. I never wanted to be in a position of putting my pet to sleep because I didn’t have the money for health care. My vet recommended Trupanion and I chose a 1000 dollar deductible to keep my premiums down. I thought that I would be able to cover vet costs unless she was hit by a car or ended up with cancer when she was older. My new puppy seemed happy and healthy until she was 5 months old and I noticed she limped after a busy day. She also started to have a problem with yeast in her ears. Now my dog is 20 months old. Her ear problem has continued and I have now spent more on her vet care for her ears than my deductible. While it is nice that costs associated with her ear infections is covered now, I could come up with the money to pay for it. Her problem with limping, however is a different story. My beloved dog Calabaza has elbow dysplasia in both front legs. Without Trupanion I would not have been able to pay for the CT scan that was required to confirm the diagnosis and plan the course of treatment let alone pay for the treatment. Without treatment my beautiful golden retriever would suffer from arthritis as her elbow joints disintegrated. As a pet owner who considers her dog a member of the family it would have been devastating to have to decide between helping my pet or financial ruin. Luckily, I don’t have to make that decision, thanks to the Trupanion policy I purchased. I am so grateful to have Trupanion. Within minutes of the specialist vet telling me Cala needed a CT scan I received an email telling me what Trupanion would cover and how much my portion would be. My dog is having surgery in a few days and I can spend my time deciding how I will manage her aftercare instead of trying to find a way to covèr the cost. Thank You Trupanion!!!

Healthy Paws made my life just a little easier during a very difficult time

Yes, Healthy Paws made my life just a little easier during a very difficult time. My beloved "Lambeau" had been dealing with cancer - and fighting like a little champ - for several years. I'm SURE Healthy Paws "lost money" on our account, as Lambeau's bills (medications/surgeries) had to be over $50,000. I ended up paying only about 20% of that amount, and the premiums while high, never compared to what Healthy Paws covered. When Lambeau passed, the team at Healthy Paws was sweet, comforting, and made sure to close my account, so I wasn't billed for an additional month - while continuing to send reimbursements for her final vet bills. I'd highly recommend Healthy Paws for these reasons.

Big Mistake!

I have had nothing but problems with this company. Prices go up every year. It has gone up 4x the amount and I have a healthy 4 year old dog. Finally decided to cancel and I feel SO relieved. This is after finding an unauthorized charge on my credit card. Fetch claims this was a seperate tax charge. Never in my life has any company charged seperately for taxes so I beleive this is a lie. My main issues are lack of responsiveness and slow communication. I've spent hours waiting for responses from agents that don't seem to know what's going on.
