I adopted my first dog ever on April 15, 2014 unexpectedly and it took me a month to understand and sign up for pet insurance. I have liked Trupanion's service until last week when I submitted a claim for dental work. The reason 0% was covered was because notes from a vet visit two days before I started coverage with Trupanion said my dog showed signs of tartar buildup. It puts a real sour taste in your mouth when you are a diligent pet owner and your insurance company doesn't give back just a little of the $3,800+ you've paid them over the years to help cover the cost of a very expensive procedure. I used to think that Trupanion was personable and accommodating but this refusal of coverage came right after I found out that changing my address with Trupanion in August 2021 when I moved from Boston to Vermont would have saved me $10 a month in premiums and when I called, the rep said they couldn't prorate me even if I could prove the address change. I was understanding then but the back-to-back refusals make me realize that all insurance companies truly are all the same. We all know what we're getting when we sign up for insurance and in the end it'll hopefully be worth it. I just suppose that the high opinion I had for Trupanion is lost. But I do appreciate that it's always easy to get in touch with a live person so keep up the good work on that front.

I think you guys do a great job.
I think you guys do a great job. I just really dislike that examination fees are not covered even for a covered treatment. I work in insurance and I feel that is wrong. I also have seen an almost 100 percent increase in fees in the 7 years of my puppy's life.

Submitting claims is easy fast and painless.
Submitting claims is easy, fast and painless....my only wish is that Trupanion would cover more items when it is something the Veterinarian had requested you purchase for your dogs heath. My dog has severe allergies and cannot eat regular food but her food is not covered even though I have to buy it at the Vet's and is a speciality food. Other than that I love Trupanion.
