Totally worth the small monthly fee.
Great company. Super fast turn around time for reimbursement. Fantastic customer service. Was a lifesaver the first few months of our “I love to eat socks” bernedoodle. And the one time only annual deductible is a great benefit.

Fetch by the dodo promises not kept
I had four Senior dogs. I started out with an annual deductible but for some reason it turned into a per condition deductible after underwriters were changed I complained but I let it go. Then one of my babies was misdiagnosed and it took three vets to figure out that she had a tumor on her spleen which was taken out and fetch did pay all the claims which I was grateful for because I had unlimited annual limit so I felt comfortable with submitting claims. When renewal arrived Tinker's policy was downgraded by 50%. No longer did I have unlimited I had a $15,000 annual limit $500 per condition deductible and only 70% reimbursement. No explanation just a congratulations your policy has been renewed but changed .Tinker died 2 months later. After tinker's death I have been very careful about putting claims and nervous every time renewal comes around .So this year I decided to only put claims in for regular chronic treatments acupuncture and cold lazer and nothing else. I emailed fetch eight times during the year asking if I was within the limits and if they could tell me the formula for downgrading -no response. So I called up December 11th and spoke personally to an agent asking them to look at the three policies I was told by the agent that all the policies were good and that there would be no changes for renewal I did not have to worry or consider downgrading their policies myself which I would have done to avoid downgrading. I was relieved , however; January 16th came around and I received an email and lo and behold one of my pups policies was downgraded! Once again congratulations but no explanation and a number to call if I wanted to discuss my options the number was an auto nation's parts department number! I called the next day and was told matter of factly suck it up or cancel the policy there was nothing that can be done there was no financial ombudsman to call or speak to no review department nothing. I asked to speak to supervisor and I inquired the chances of her policy being downgraded even more if I use it like I used it 2023 he told me he did not know that was not his department but yet he was the supervisor .He kept on repeating cost to loss ratio her premiums were low that's why she was downgraded thing I can do. But we kept the $25,000 limit annual limit which means nothing because if I use it they will downgrade me. I had unlimited on tinker and I was still downgraded so they are annual limits mean nothing. Her premiums are now even lower than they were before so the risk of downgrading is even greater if I use the strategy I used last year of just using it for acupuncture and cold laser. So I am warning pet parents if you use the insurance for claims to save your dogs or cats life be prepared that next year your policy is going to be double or quadruple like it was mine or be downgraded.I paid almost $11,000 last year for pet insurance for my three dogs who I love with all my heart and I was rewarded by a kick in the butt. Oh yes! They did renew my two older dogs because I pay $4,000 each for them. But that's no promise that next year if I use it they will downgrade them too when they need it the most.

Rising Premiums but So Far Good Coverage
I was incredibly frustrated recently due to seeing my premium rise in cost in rapid succession, especially after moving to Ft Lauderdale. I never thought my pet insurance would reach car payment status, and I’ve been a loyal customer since 2017. I want to love TRUPANION and they recently did pay a good portion of my last vet bill, but I honestly have no other insurance company to compare it to, and I think all pet owners would pretty much do anything for their pets. I believe the real reason of rising premiums is the amount of people that have recently become pet owners due to Covid, and they’re taking advantage because they know people have no choice but to have the insurance, and if that’s the case, why not boost the price while we’re at it because we have to pay more people to process your insurance money. With all that being said, TRUPANION is by far one of the easiest companies to work with, the least hassle I’ve ever had with claims processing and responses from any company, and they have covered a good portion of my claim requests considering my pet has chronic ear infections and bad allergies. I would definitely recommend TRUPANION due to the coverage, but I’d definitely make sure it fits your budget, because they don’t tell you when they’re raising the cost of your premiums, they just do it!
Appalling customer service
So when I moved 10 minutes away, my premiums went up approx $100/month, which while ridiculous, what can you do? I decided to decrease my coverage to make the payment more manageable, as over $300/month for insurance on my 6 year old dog when I haven’t made a claim in years seemed stupid. The payment goes onto my husband’s Credit Card, so I didn’t notice right away that we were being overcharged over $60/month more than what I had been quoted for our changed policy. Of course, I discovered this on a weekend, when the only customer service available is over chat. The person I chatted with, Emma, said she would escalate the situation and I would hear back from them within a couple of business days (which I didn’t). So I call, because the call centre is only open M-F until 6pm ET and speak to someone who says that they will get back to me within 24-48 hours. Which they didn’t. I live on the West Coast, and I have a job, so I don’t have time during the day to call them repeatedly to follow up. I finally hear back from someone 13 DAYS later. Jordan left me a message at 2:40 in the afternoon on a Friday (Pacific time, so 20 minutes before they close for the weekend). Because I’m at work, I was unable to check the message until after 3pm PT. He lets me know that my payment is now $185/month. What??? It was supposed to be $170.76/month, they’ve been charging me $232.23/month, where did $185 come from? And no mention of reimbursing us for the $60+ they’ve been overcharging us for the past 3 months. And I can’t call to ask, because now they are closed. So here we go again. Back to the chat. Which is completely useless because they won’t tell you anything over the chat, just to call during their regular operating hours. What a joke, if my dog didn’t have pre-existing conditions I would change insurance companies in a heartbeat. I might anyways just because how awful they are to deal with.

Affordable and easy
Buying insurance with Pets Best was easy and fast. The rates are affordable and they offer a few different options for plans. Filing a claim was easy and done online within minutes. My claim was approved and went towards my chosen deductible which is what I expected would happen. It did take almost 2 months to process my claim as they were very busy but I was kept up to date during the wait. So far I am very happy with this insurance and have recommended it to others.
do not treat their long time costumers well.
We have been with pets plus us since 2017 when we got our puppy. Recently we were double charged ( the month of december) great timing with christmas. We called to find out why and they said their mistake, they didnt charge the month prior so they had to double charge. While we were on the phone the staff was confirming all our information. We had realized that we hadn't changed our home address with them when we moved 2 years ago. We asked why this is important, she said it makes a difference for the payments. OK. We gave her our new address and she said the payment had dropped significantly. We were paying 76.00 monthly ( living in DT ottawa), and with our new address it dropped down to 35.00 which we were stocked about since we were already paying so mich monthly. We said we cannot back date but your next payment in Januuary will reflect the changes. Come January payment no changes made. We called to find out why only to be told thats not true and our payments did not change. Told them to refer to notes on call, listen to call recording of the phone call. We were rudly told theres nothing they can do and basically that we were making it up and our payments didn't change. When asked to speak to a supervisor/manager about the incident we were told the call back time was 8-10 bussiness days. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? 8-10 days to speak to a supervisor. This is ridicously. For long time customers. Totally unacceptable. I will be looking elsewhere.

Amazing!
I just can not give this company enough praise. I want to say that I have never had any sort of medical instance for as quickly and stress free, dog or human. In a very quick turn of events we went from seeing a vet for a consult to our dog having surgery. It was such an easy process and the staff at the hospital told us the Trupanion was the best. “They are super quick with pre-approvals and usually settle within a day.” You never know when you purchase insurance, will it really be what they are selling? But we had gotten the 90/10 ratio coverage for our French Bulldog. And yes, they paid 90% of the bill. With our deductable and our co-pay we paid about 1,000$ on a 6400$ bill. I can’t tell you how important it is to get pet insurance. I can’t imagine having to sit in that room, hear what your pet needs and wonder if you have enough money in your savings for it. Or if you have a credit card with enough to cover it. Something that could have been stressful was just not a worry. I kept saying, “no problem, we have good insurance” and they truly proved it. I will always have pet insurance and it will always be with Trupanion!
Pets best? More like pets waste of time!
I got my insurance last year when I got my puppy thinking it was going to be looking out for her and have her set up for anything that was to come our way. First time making a claim I was denied (okay cool) but I was given a "see benefits" instead a reason? You can't give me a short reason? I file a claim and it takes months, with only a single email here and there saying "sorry for the inconvenience" you can't communicate what's taking so long? High volume/high claimes/the weather etc something other than sorry? I've made 4 different claims and I have yet to see a check that was made out to me. There is zero incentive for being a member. You just pay 65 bucks for the "best" insurance and it's a complete waste of my money, time and efforts. Good luck trying to speak to a human you'll be on the phone forever and thet will just tell you to "see your benefits" than have it explained to you. Look I get it I can see my benefits but I would like it explained further by someone who is knowledgeable in the insurance industry but I just have to figure it out on my own.

Healthy Paws Pet Insurance
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance is the best investment you can make to insure the best care of your beloved pet. Adopted my dog Luke when he was 6 months old and immediately got this insurance in 2017, and it has been a life saver. Luke ended up with allergies and the medication is $180.00 a month, I send the invoice to Healthy Paws and get reimbursed for 90% within 2-3 days. He has had multiple surgeries that have also been covered at 90%, saving me thousands of dollars. Their customer service is the most caring, kind, professional I have ever encountered. I have referred many friends and family to Healthy Paws, and they tell me if not for this insurance it would have been so stressful and devastating, emotionally and financially, had they had ignored the importance of getting this coverage for their pets. So, do you and your pet a life changing favor and call Healthy Paws now!
