Pay back-After having appointments with our vet…

After having appointments with our vet for our Crosby, I was able to apply for money back from Pumpkin Insurance. They pay at a high percentage after deductible.

7 Dachshunds

Pets Best's $1,000 deductible with 90% payment and unlimited coverage has allowed us to cover all of our dogs with lower premiums while protecting us from the cost of serious illness or injury. The claim process is easy and we have needed to coverage on 3 dogs over the past two years. I recommend Pets Best to our friends.

Dismissive Customer Service and Wasted Money

Customer service was incredibly unhelpful and dismissive. This experience made the trauma of my pet's end of life very disappointing, upsetting and I felt incredibly unsupported. I also felt that the cost spent over the 12 years of my pet's life for pet insurance coverage has been an absolute waste based on this experience. I have spent thousands with this company to be completely dismissed for minor issues (stating all claimed medical visits were due to underlying issues with no medical evidence of such) or being told my pet's euthanasia would be covered with reimbursement when it was applied towards the deductible of a canceled policy for a pet that was no longer living. It is incredibly disappointing to place your trust in a company and to have them not be helpful, and customer service inconsistent, when you need it. I would not recommend this company to any other pet owners unless you want to do most of the work for their customer service team.

Rate increase 10% annually?

I submitted a claim for wellness exam and immunizations a few weeks before my policy was set to expire, then my renewal came and my rate went up almost 10%. I doubt it was coincidental and can't imagine what percentage increase it would have been had I submitted a claim for illnesses or injuries.

Trupanion feels like a scam for “pre‑existing” excuses

I’ve had Trupanion for over a year for my 5‑year‑old German Shepherd, paying close to 400 dollars a month in premiums. In that time, almost every single vet visit has been denied as “pre‑existing,” even straightforward issues like an ear infection. At this point, having Trupanion has felt no different than having no insurance at all. What’s especially frustrating is that for a 5‑year‑old dog, it seems they can find some prior note or symptom to classify nearly anything as pre‑existing, while still happily taking a very high monthly premium. If they know in advance that they’ll treat almost everything as pre‑existing for an older dog, they shouldn’t be writing these policies in the first place. Based on my experience, I’d strongly recommend looking at other pet insurance options or just putting the money into a dedicated savings fund for vet care instead of paying Trupanion for coverage they rarely honor.
