I'm 72 years old and rescued Winston when he was 4 1/2 years old. He's my baby and my best friend, at 13 years old, he has some issues, but I'm right on top of things when it comes to him. Just knowing I have the insurance with Nationwide makes it a lot easier for me in determining his care. I had Nationwide insurance with my last beagle and was extremely satisfied and that is why I chose you people again for Winston. No question about it. My daughter also has your insurance for her 2 dogs. No one should be without pet insurance, just like people shouldn't be without health insurance.

Not a great experience
My vet submitted a prescription for Apoquel as a claim to Trupanion for my dog who has been having food allergy issues. The claim for treatment was denied because a long time ago, my dog had an ear infection (which has been treated and completely gone). Trupanion has denied coverage for the food allergies due to an ear infection many years ago. I am so angry as this type of rejection of claim seems to happen so frequently with them...usually at the worst possible time too. I had just lost my other dog suddenly and unexpectedly. The whole experience from Trupanion has added to my grief.

Thankful to have pet insurance
We adopted two boy dachshunds between 1999 and 2013. We did not have pet insurance for them but we footed the bill for their care. They died 9 days apart, one of cancer and the other of congestive heart failure. Then about 3 months later we adopted two adult girl dachshunds and immediately got insurance. Now whenever there is illness or we have a wellness visit, we do not worry about the cost. The insurance is part of the budget and although it seems significant it is scheduling payment toward the girls healthcare. We have been totally satisfied with Nationwide Pet Insurance... it is a blessing to not be terrified of being able to give our dogs proper healthcare. I consider Nationwide Pet Insurance a partner is insuring my girls get the care they need. I had to retire due to health issues myself and it has really helped. I have friends who do not have insurance and they make decisions based on their bank account and not the care of their pet. I recommend Nationwide Pet Insurance at our vet office to the staff. They always ask, what kind of insurance do you have and I do recommend you folks. Thank you for your service to our family.

Pricey
Nationwide seems very pricey and takes forever to send out checks. So pricey we had to pick which dog we could get it for because we can't afford to have it for both.

While I am happy to have my pets insured, the time it takes for reimbursement has increased to about 1 month. The premiums are increasing yearly by a substantial dollar amount.
