I wish my insurance was as good as my dog’s.
I have had our pet insurance since we brought Bella home around six years ago. It has been a lifesaver for us, and it could not be easier to use. Thank you!

Very Good Service
The service handling claims is very good. Some claims seem to take longer than necessary but not a big deal. The electronic fund transfer feature seems to allow the bank to be a 3rd party in the transfer - bad news. Why not have ACH transfers be automatic as elsewhere. As the pets age the policy prices become very big but that is probably industry follow. Bottom line I have used VPI for many years, over 10 years, for at least 3 dogs. That speaks to my recommendation.

Error in billing and can NOT get them to correct!!
They have been overhear charging me for 1 year, now raising my rates with ZERO claims! I have been told on 3 occasions that they will correct issue and have someone contact me, but no one ever does, and they continue to charge me HIGHER rate!! I have spent countless hours on hold trying to reach them!! I am beyond frustrated!! I will be finding another insurance company!! Shame on them!!

I’m glad I have Nationwide
I was originally with VPI who was bought by Nationnwide. In comparison with other pet insurance I went with the better insurer - Nationwide.

Disappointed
Although I should have thoroughly read the lengthy document associated with my dog's medical insurance policy, I find it highly disappointing to learn that your company WILL NOT cover my dog's hernia operation. Paying over $700/yr over the past 4 years, I would think that MEDICAL INSURANCE would at least pay for a major part of the procedure and not just the exam to discover my dog's issue. I can tell you for a fact, I will not be renewing my dog's policy with your company, Nationwide.

Took over a month for the claim to be processed, but it paid off
My cat Maurice had some teeth pulled at the beginning of November, and I got back 90% after meeting the deductible. Maurice's insurance is a great investment in his health, both now when he's young and strong, and later, to maintain his health.

They keep significantly increasing the price of our insurance.
We signed up for Nationwide two years ago at a rate of $60 per month. This seemed reasonable and we wanted to make sure that our dog was covered. Our dog is now 3 and they have increased our rates by $90 per month. They are now asking for $150 per month. We now feel stuck with this insurance as other insurances may not cover anything deemed to be a pre-existing condition. When I called Nationwide to see why the price went up so much, they said all plans went up due to increased costs in veterinary care. $90 per month seems like quite a significant increase for ‘increased costs in veterinary care’ in one year. I didn’t feel they were being honest with me and I feel like we are being punished for using the insurance to cover a surgery our dog needed to have on her leg. I would not recommend Nationwide unless you only need it for a year, otherwise you are locked in and they will significantly increase the prices taking advantage of the fact that you are locked in with them.

Raised premium from $64.15/month to $92/ month after 1 year of policy, no major claims
Raised premium from $64.15/month to $92/ month after 1 year of policy, no major claims (+regular $250 deductible). This is an obscene practice! I called, and of course agent couldn't care less. I used to recommend this for other pet owners, never again.
